Research On The Influence And Countermeasures Of Azerbaijan’s Participation In China’s "One Belt And One Road" Initiative

The silk road economic belt in China’s "One Belt And One Road" initiative connects five provinces in the northwest and four provinces in the southwest of China,and has close links with the asia-pacific economic circle.The trans-continental corridor between Russia and Europe connects the Chinese coast and forms the 21st century maritime silk road.The new silk road economic route will create new opportunities for cooperation in trade,energy,science and technology,information,agriculture and tourism.Azerbaijan is geographically located on East-West and North-South transportation corridors and its territories were used historically by Silk Road caravans.Since gaining independence,the Azerbaijani government has actively tried to make the country a bridge between Europe and Asia.China and Azerbaijan,despite the geographical distance,have a long history of friendship between their people.China’s Belt and Road Initiative,which was proposed by President Xi Jinping 2013,has won warm response and active participation from Azerbaijan.In December of 2015,President Ilham Aliyev visited China and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt,which marked that China-Azerbaijan ties has entered a new phase.Both China and Azerbaijan will see new opportunities during the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.China has begun to strengthen its relations with Central Asia and South Caucasus under this project.So,how China’s New Silk Road Initiative is perceived in South Caucasus?What is the impact of Azerbaijan’s participation in the New Silk Road economic project?This article presents an analysis of China’s geo-economics interests in South Caucasus,especially in Azerbaijan under the new Silk Road Project and the perception of this project in the region.The article reviews the economic characteristics of the Chinese and Azerbaijani economies,some elements of economic relations between China and Azerbaijan,comparison of the various components of the model-shaping forms of intervention in the economy of both countries and dynamics of components,econometric analysis of the macroeconomic effects of the components of the economic development model of the two countries are studied.The development of cooperation with the "Belt and Road" Initiative,including the opening of the Baku Sea Port,Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway in Azerbaijan,located between Asia Europe Establishment of the Alat Economic Zone on the Baku coast of the Caspian Sea will further develop Azerbaijan’s economic relations,which will contribute to the economic and social progress between two countries.
