Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.This is an accurate grasp of the new historical orientation of the development of the country from the combination of history and reality,theory and practice at the Nineteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China.It is also a new historical coordinate for us to understand the situation,analyze problems and grasp trends.Correspondingly,the economic and financial situation is also undergoing profound changes.The sustained and healthy development of the financial industry is an important part of the rapid and sound development of the national economy.Commercial banks play an important role in the financial industry.Among them,the scale of state-owned commercial banks occupies "half of the country" in commercial banks.The development of state-owned commercial banks plays a decisive role in the development of commercial banks and even the financial industry in China.However,with the deepening of China's financial system reform,facing the complex and changeable macroeconomic situation,more fierce competition in the same industry,and more stringent and prudent regulatory policies,the competitive advantage of state-owned commercial banks is no longer obvious.Especially in the state-owned commercial banks at the municipal level,in recent years,there have been someproblems,such as shrinking market share,weak business growth,prominent operational risks,and declining market competitiveness.Therefore,this paper takes L city's state-owned commercial banks as an example,hoping to put forward countermeasures and suggestions through the analysis and study of their core competitiveness,and hope to play a reference role in the development of branches of state-owned commercial banks,thus helping to enhance the overall competitiveness of state-owned commercial banks,play their "main force" role,and promote the steady development of economy and finance.This paper reviews the current situation of the research on the competitiveness of commercial banks,defines the relevant concepts and lays a theoretical foundation for the study.It holds that the core competitiveness of commercial banks should refer to the process of creating more value and realizing sustainable development through resource allocation and continuous innovation in the operation activities of providing financial products and services.More competitive comprehensive capabilities,including profitability,risk control ability,business development ability,innovation ability,etc.On the basis of theoretical research,this paper combines the external economic environment and the development characteristics of L city's state-owned commercial banks,and uses the hierarchical method to construct the index evaluation system of L city's commercial banks' competitiveness.Inthe empirical analysis,eight different types of banking financial institutions in L city are selected.The comprehensive ranking of competitiveness is obtained through empirical comparison and Analysis on profitability,risk control ability,business development ability and innovation ability.Through comparative analysis,it is found that the competitiveness ranking of commercial banks is not positively related to the scale and category of commercial banks.Although state-owned commercial banks have great advantages in scale,the promotion of core competitiveness does not rely solely on the expansion of scale.Risk control ability,strong customer base and capital scale advantage are the core competitiveness of L city's state-owned commercial banks,but they do not have competitiveness in asset structure optimization,profitability and innovation ability.There are weak growth of core debt business,unreasonable unbalanced credit structure,inconsistent performance appraisal with business development needs,small and micro enterprises.There are obvious disadvantages in service.Therefore,this paper puts forward some suggestions for L city's state-owned commercial banks to enhance their core competitiveness,namely,the transformation of development mode from extension to intensive connotation,the transformation of operation mode from traditional to modern,the transformation of management mode from extensive to refined,the transformation of "Red Sea Strategy" to "Blue Sea Strategy",and thetransformation of service entity economy from "individual" to "cluster".
