As a pillar industry of national economy,construction industry plays an important role in economic development and social stability.At present,China's construction industry is accelerating the modernization of the construction industry,which brings opportunities for the development of construction enterprises,but also makes the external environment of the organization change dramatically.As a result,enterprises are confronted with uncertainties in the process of development.Enhancing organizational flexibility can enable enterprises to respond quickly to changes in the external environment and make organizational changes with less time,energy and cost for improving the adaptability of enterprises and keeping competitive advantage.Therefore,under the background of modernization of construction industry,it is particularly important to study and discuss the current situation and influencing factors of organizational flexibility of construction engineering enterprises,and then put forward relevant strategies to enhance organizational flexibility of enterprises.Firstly,this paper puts forward the concept,connotation and measurement dimension of organizational flexibility of construction engineering enterprises based on relevant literature research at home and abroad,constructs a theoretical model of organizational flexibility measurement,and develops an organizational flexibility measurement scale on the basis of referring to mature scales at home and abroad.Secondly,on the basis of the pre-survey,a formal survey questionnaire has been formed and the survey data have been widely collected.Using SPSS and AMOS software,descriptive statistical analysis,reliability and validity test are carried out on the collected data.The measurement path equation is obtained by constructing and analyzing the structural equation model of organizational flexibility measurement.Based on the measurement path equation,the organizational flexibility status of construction engineering enterprises under the influence of modernization of construction industry is analyzed and discussed.Thirdly,according to the current situation of organizational flexibility,15 representative employees of construction enterprises are selected for in-depth interviews.And,29 initial categories,10 main categories,3 sub-core categories and core categories "factors affecting the formation of organizational flexibility of construction engineering enterprises" are obtained by using grounded theory to analyze interview data.Based on these,a model of influencing factors of organizational flexibility is constructed.Fourthly,the degree of mutual influence of identified influencing factors was investigated by industry experts.And,the DEMATEL method is used to process the survey data,including calculating the influencing factors matrix from the survey data by using the software of matlab,and then finding out the key factors affecting the formation of organizational flexibility based on the matrix calculation results.Therefor,six key factorswere identified,including policy environment,market environment,organizational resources,organizational culture,senior managers' sense of distress and innovative spirit of senior managers.Finally,according to the key influencing factors,four strategies are put forward to enhance organizational flexibility of Enterprises,including organizational resources,organizational culture,the sense of distress of executives and the innovative spirit of executives.This paper promotes the application and development of the theory of organizational flexibility in the field of engineering construction,enriches the theoretical research results of the measurement and influencing factors of organizational flexibility,and lays a foundation for the further development of the theory of organizational flexibility in the field of engineering construction.In addition,the research and analysis results of this paper reflect the current situation of organizational flexibility of various construction enterprises under the background of modernization of construction industry.It is helpful for the construction engineering enterprises to take measures to enhance their organizational flexibility for improving their environmental adaptability and enhancing their core competitiveness.The paper has 19 figures,59 tables and 118 references.
