Investigation Of Household Willingness For Dual-purposed Winter Wheat And Its Impact On Agricultural Income In Qingyang City

Dual-purposed winter wheat can not only solve the shortage of livestock forage,but also ensure the stability of grain production,and thus making full use of the resource in agricultural and animal husbandry.Household are the main user of the dual-purposed winter wheat,so it is of great significance to investigate their willingness to adopt it as well as the influence factors.Further,the impact of using dual-purposed winter wheat on household agricultural income was explored,which would promote the application of dual-purposed winter wheat in Qingyang area.Therefore,this study used the theory of household behavior choice and collected 323 valid questionnaires from the households in Qingyang city,Gansu province,China.Econometric model was used to analyse household willingness to adopt dual-purposed winter wheat and its impact on household agricultural income.The main results are as follow:1.Fifty-seven percentage of the surved households were willing to adopt dual-purposed winter wheat,indicating a relatively high household willingness.Among the influencing factors,the planting area of winter wheat(P<0.01),knowledge(P<0.05),household prospecting perception(P<0.01)all showed significant positive impacts on household willingness to adopt dual-purposed winter wheat,while the students number in family(P<0.05),and livestock amount(P<0.1)had significance negative impact on household willingness.2?Dual-purposed winter wheat had obvious agricultural income effect.The effect of dual-purposed winter wheat on household agricultural income was estimated to be about 12.8% and the real income increase was 1130 yuan per hectare based on original agricultural income(4487 yuan per year),by using the propensity score matching method,after the correction of the deviation in sample heterogeneity.The planting area of winter wheat was the main factor affecting household agricultural income.The traditional least squares method significantly underestimated the effect of using dual-purposed winter wheat on agricultural income by approximately 6.4%.The planting area and the yield of winter wheat,livestock quantity significantly affected agricultural income.3?The results of the quantile regression model showed that dual-purposed winter wheat had significance positive impacts on agricultural income only for the household of low and middle income level,but had no significance effect on agricultural income for the household of high income level.This is because that marginal contribution of the dual-purposed winter wheat to household agricultural income level was different,thus exerting an impact on the level in agricultural income of household.To sum up,dual-purposed winter wheat can produce significance economic benefits,and winter wheat planting area is an important factor affecting the benefits.Therefore,it is suggested that land transfer should be implemented in Longdong area to provide basic condition for the large-scale popularization of the dual-purposed winter wheat.
