With the acceleration of China’s economic and social development process, the support and leading role of science and technology in economic and social progress has become increasingly prominent.Scientific progress and academic prosperity have also become more and more dependent on the guarantee of academic resources. The National Natural Science Foundation plays an important role in promoting basic research. However,in the specific subject areas, whether the National Natural Science Foundation promotes the individual level of researchers. What is the scientific research performance of researchers? This research focuses on tracking research in a certain field, focusing on the field of immunology, and tracking the research output of researchers. The choice of this field is mainly based on three considerations: First, compared with other disciplines, medical research is highly dependent on science funds, and when science or management science lacks funds, research can still be carried out, thus to a certain extent It guarantees that the treatment effect of the self-finance fund in the field of immunology is relatively “ clean ”.Secondly, compared with other fields, immunology is not interdisciplinary, and the substantive crossover between the research method system and related disciplines is not strong.Making the data relatively pure, the funding of the funds led to the output of the paper, which can better measure the effect of funding on scientific research output.Third, the National Self-Funded Fund has the largest proportion of funding for medical research, and immunology as biomedicine.A branch requires a large amount of research funding to support scientific research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper uses the Science Fund Network Information System Database to collect scientific research input data from 2005 to 2016 in the field of immunology in the Department of Life Sciences, and uses the China Knowledge Network and the ScienceDirect database to find the corresponding funds funded by the National Self-Funded Fund. The relevant information of researchers’ scientific research output, construct static and dynamic panel data model, and empirically test how the national self-finance fund affects the scientific research performance of researchers in the field of immunology from the gender, age and individual ability dimensions of researchers. Finally, the study draws the following conclusions:(1)the input of the National Self-Funded Fund is conducive to the promotion of the paper output of researchers in the field of immunology;(2)in the field of immunology, the scientific research output of researchers in the field of immunology with the increase of age(3)In the field of immunology, compared with male researchers, the input of the National Self-finance Fund has a greater incentive effect on the research output of female researchers;(4)in the field of immunology, compared with the youth project, the country The face-to-face project in the self-funded fund is more conducive to promoting scientific research output in the field of immunology. Therefore,in order to improve the funding efficiency of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the scientific research performance of researchers, this paper proposes the following four possible policy implications: increasing the overall size of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, adjusting the age structure funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, and considering the country. The gender characteristics of the Natural Science Foundation funded and the individual research capacity of the National Natural Science Foundation.
