2017 is the first year of retail in China.China's unmanned retail set sail in 2017 in the background of the rapid development of China's mobile payment,face recognition,RFID and other high-tech technologies,as well as the consumption upgrade of Chinese residents.Now,the current unmanned retail field in China has formed an unmanned retail system composed of "unmanned convenience stores--unmanned shelves--unmanned vending machines".Therefore,unmanned retail has become a new retail mode with great development potential under the background of rapid rise of labor cost,mature technology and gradual formation of consumer groups in China.Among them,unmanned fresh food retail has become the most potential.Retail sales of unmanned fresh food are expected to reach 24.1 billion yuan in the market in 2018,achieving a growth rate of 50% on the current scale.From the perspective of the overall catering market,despite the rapid development of online catering market in recent years,the penetration rate of online catering is still low compared with offline catering market,accounting for only 4% to 6% of the market share.However,at present,the business model of unmanned fresh food retail is just starting,and new entrants in this field are exploring and constantly improving the business model of unmanned fresh food retail.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out research on the business model innovation of unmanned fresh food retail enterprises.To sum up,this paper adopts the case study method and selects Canmeimei,the market pioneer of the unmanned fresh food retail brand,as the case to explore the platform business model innovation of unmanned fresh food retail.First of all,based on the theory of platform business model,this paper analyzes the status quo of Canmeimei,and identifies the problems existing in the current business model of Canmeimei.Then,based on the business model innovation approach theory,the author proposed solutions to the current problems of Canmeimei.Finally,in order to ensure the implementation of business model innovation,the corresponding safeguard measures are proposed from three aspects: talent,system and capital.This paper extends the applicable boundary of theories related to the platform business model to the field of unmanned fresh food and provides great practical significance for guiding the perfection of the business model of unmanned fresh food retail enterprises.
