The Consumption plays an important role and has become the first driving force in promoting economic growth.China is in an important period which consumption scale expanding and consumption upgrading accelerating,and accompanied with a change from Mass Consumption to High and Mid-end Consumption.Promoting the development of High and Mid-end Consumption is the inevitable requirement of deepening the structural reform of supply side,and increase the role of consumption in economic development.Although the development of High and Mid-end Consumption is getting more attention,there are few researches on High and Mid-end Consumption.First,there isn’t a scientific connotation of High and Mid-end Consumption.Second,there isn’t an index system to measure the development of High and Mid-end Consumption.Third,the lacking of research on the regional differences in High and Mid-end Consumption makes it difficult to form targeted measures to promote the development of High and Mid-end Consumption.The research on the connotation,measure scientifically the development level and analysis regional development differences of High and Mid-end Consumption is important to satisfy people’s increasing demand and realize the effective transformation of economy from high-speed to high-quality development.Based on the relevant research,this paper systematically analyzes the connotation of High and Mid-end Consumption.High and Mid-end Consumption is a multi-dimensional concept,this paper will discuss the concept of High and Mid-end Consumption in an objective sense.The High and Mid-end Consumption is a concept of consumption upgrading which embodied consumer subject,the consumer object,and consumer environment.In the new stage of social development,High and Mid-end Consumption is the performance of the improving of people’s life quality,and the characteristic of the middle class group expanding.This paper proposes that High and Mid-end Consumption is a consumption state different from ordinary consumption and luxury consumption.Basis of the connotation of High and Mid-end Consumption,we can summarize that the economic ability of consumer is enhancing,the consumption concept of consumer is fashionable,and the comprehensive quality of consumer improves,and the consumption structure optimizes,the consumption quality improves,the consumption types increase.And the economic environment is stable,the social environment is harmonious,the natural environment is good.In addition,this paper also tries to construct index system of High and Mid-end Consumption.Firstly,determining reasonable indicator of the index system in conjunction with previous studies.Secondly,using the equal weight and principal component analysis method to weight the indicators and evaluate the development of High and Mid-end Consumption at this stage.The general trend of high-end consumption index in China in the year of 2012 to 2017 is rising continuously,but the overall level is relatively low.The development of high-end consumption in different regions is obvious imbalance.The eastern coastal provinces and the central and western provinces have obvious differences.Thirdly,using the system clustering method to cluster the High and Mid-end Consumption development level of 31 provinces in 2017.The High and Mid-end Consumption levels of Beijing,Tianjin,Shanghai,Zhejiang,Jiangsu and Guangdong have formed a high-level group at the national level.In response to this phenomenon,using threshold model to test whether the economic development level of different regions has a threshold effect on the development of High and Mid-end Consumption.The study found that the level of economic development has a significant pulling effect on the High and Mid-end Consumption,and there is a significant single threshold effect.When the per capita GDP of the region exceeds 120,000 yuan,the level of economic development will have a bigger promotion to High and Mid-end Consumption.Finally,this paper proposes to explore the specific ways to promote the development of High and Mid-end Consumption from three perspectives: enhancing the consumption power of people,increasing the effective supply,and improving the consumption environment.
