“In the face of changing economic situation,we advocate vigorously promoting open innovation”,which was stressed at the Davos Forum in 2015.After all,the open cooperation between countries should be carried out on the market subject of enterprises. Therefore, how to innovate better has become a key issue for enterprises.Especially in the era of knowledge economy,it's difficult for enterprises to adapt to the rapid development of market demand and increasingly fierce competition by relying solely on internal R&D with high-cost innovation activities.More and more enterprises actively acquire knowledge from outside organizations and integrate it in order to enhance level of their innovation activity. In this context, considerable work has been done on the impact of external knowledge on enterprise innovation and innovation performance, emphasizing the importance of linking with external knowledge subjects for enterprises in the process of innovation. As a new innovation strategy,"disruptive innovation" well explains why the leading enterprises in the industry lose to the "Innovator's dilemma" of emerging enterprises. At present, disruptive innovation in the context of emerging economies has become one of the research focuses. However,as an important complement to enterprise innovation, the mechanism of external knowledge's effect on disruptive innovation has not been fully explained in the existing research. From the perspective of external knowledge acquire, comprehensively considered the allocation ability of enterprises in the process of turning its knowledge resources into innovation, this paper introduces knowledge integration ability as intermediary variable and strategic flexibility as moderator variable, and explores the influence mechanism of different external knowledge on disruptive innovation of enterprises,359 survey data of Chinese manufacturing enterprises was used to conduct the empirical study. As a result, supply chain knowledge, competitor knowledge as well as institutional knowledge all have a positive impact on the knowledge integration ability of enterprises;Supply chain knowledge, institutional knowledge as well as competitor knowledge all have a significant positive impact on disruptive innovation,In addition,it suggests that knowledge integration capability not only directly promotes disruptive innovation, but also plays a mediation variable for external knowledge and disruptive innovation.Specifically, knowledge integration capability partly mediates the relationship between supply chain knowledge and disruptive innovation and institutional knowledge and disruptive innovation, and fully mediates the relationship between competitors' knowledge and disruptive innovation.Strategic flexibility positively moderates the positive role of knowledge integration ability in transforming external knowledge into disruptive innovation. The results of this study extend and expand the knowledge-based theory, dynamic capability theory as well as open innovation theory, enrich the existing research on the antecedents of disruptive innovation, and provide feasible management implications for developing-country enterprises how to manage external knowledge and effectively transform external knowledge into disruptive innovation under the background of opening economics.
