Abstract/Summary:
In the process of industrialization and modernization,it is an inevitable trend of social and economic development that surplus rural labor force transfers to cities and towns, engages in non-agricultural production activities, and gradually integrates into urban life and turns into citizens.China is a large agricultural country with rich rural labor resources. With the continuous progress of China’s reform and opening up and socialist modernization,a large number of rural surplus labor will transfer to the second and third industries, which is an important issue that China’s economic development must face.Due to the existence of urban-rural dual structure,China’s rural surplus labor force in the process of industrialization and urbanization gradually formed a dual identity of farmers and workers of a special social group-migrant workers.China has a large number of migrant workers, which reached 287 million in 2017.They have made great contributions to China’s industrialization and urbanization, but their own development is facing a lot of confusion due to various historical and practical reasons. It is always a major task to explore the appropriate development mode of China’s migrant workers, whether to leave their hometown and move to the big cities or to realize the transfer of rural surplus labor.Guided by the Marxist theory of transfer of rural surplus labor and the theory of urban-rural relations, this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the history and current situation of the development of migrant workers in China, and discusses the development of migrant workers in China under the background of urban-rural integration in the new era.Besides the introduction, the main content of this paper consists of four parts:The first part is a brief overview of the marxist theory of rural surplus labor transfer and urban-rural relations, which is the theoretical basis for the study of the development of China’s farmers. The second part, from the perspective of historical review, sorts out the development process of China’s migrant workers over the past 40 years and the relationship between the development of urban-rural integration and the development of migrant workers. The development of migrant workers in China since the reform and opening up can be divided into five stages: leaving the land without leaving their homes, entering the factory without entering the city;Flow development stage to small towns; The emergence stage of the influx of urban migrant workers;Steady, standardized and orderly flow stage; The two-way flow stage of migrant workers in cities and entrepreneurs returning home. The third part discusses the current situation of the development of migrant workers in China. This paper analyzes the main characteristics of the development of migrant workers in China and the main problems in the process of the development of migrant workers, and puts forward some development strategies in view of the current situation and the main problems of the development of migrant workers in China. This paper mainly discusses the development of migrant workers in China from the aspects of system construction, policy support, humanistic care, future development and self-improvement.
