With the high-speed development of knowledge era,if the firm want have rapid growth and development,firm performance plays a key role,and firm performance depends on employee job performance,so the fundamental purpose is to improve employee job performance.The purpose of performance appraisal is to make employees understand the relationship between the employee performance target and the firm,but if only give assessment to employee does not give feedback,then the performance appraisal will be unuseful.Performance feedback is to deliver relevant performance appraisal information to employees,which can correct the existing problems of employees and guide their future development.Therefore,performance feedback plays a very important role in performance management.Through exploring the mechanism of performance feedback characteristics on employee job performance,help firm clear performance feedback characteristics and ensure the effectiveness of performance feedback and improve organizational performance,achieve the long-term development of the firm.This paper uses the method of combining theory with evidence to explore the influence of performance feedback characteristics on employee job performance,and introduce the feedback seeking behavior as the mediator variable.First of all,based on the theory of performance feedback,feedback seeking theory and social information processing theory,and combing relevant literatures,this paper puts forward relevant research hypotheses.Then the empirical analysis method is used to verify the hypothesis.Finally,according to the results,put forward the corresponding management opinions and research prospect.The results show that the performance feedback characteristics(rater’s job knowleedge,favorable feedback and unfavorable feedback and participate in feedback)have positive impact on task performance and contextual performance.The mediating effect of feedback seeking behavior also examined.Managers should participate in professional knowledge skills training,and provide positive feedback and negative feedback timely,at the same time improve the participation degree of the employees in the feedback interview,let employee express their opinions and improve the recognition of feedback results,encourage the feedback seeking behavior.
