This study is an anthropological case study on the ethnography of landscape economy based on rural tourism.The twenty-year tourism development of Tangmo Village,Huangshan City,Anhui Province was employed as the subject of this study.The intensity production activities of village government,companies operating in the ancient village rural tourism and local villagers on the landscape of Huizhou ancient village culture were described in detail.These production activities included authority,discourse and imagination.Governors,companies and villagers seize the landscape related to symbolic resource in Huizhou ancient village culture via illumination and explanation of the village landscape based on their position,knowledge and real interest.Through the positive landscape symbol grafting,reorganization and other practices,three types of tourism mode were formed,including ancient villages with landscape and traditional culture,Tangmo French-style family inns and Tangmo local style agri-tourism.Through the illustration and explanation of the landscape with Huizhou ancient village culture and discussion of tourism development activities of Tangmo villagers,this paper deeply analyzed the selectively de-contexting,reorganization,and reinforcement of the landscape symbols based on the knowledge and interests of different groups.Moreover,the re-contextualization of the landscape based on the re-illumination of the landscape cultural symbol via their culture was analyzed.Different tourism activities and landscape symbol illumination were dependent,showing a new type of village cultural landscape.This anthropological case study is specialized on China Huizhou culture.This study also allow us have a deeper understanding on the utilization and re-contextualization of cultural symbol.
