Polarization imaging detection technology expands the target information from threedimensional,detected by traditional imaging detection technology to six-dimensional,which can improve the detection efficiency under the disordered background.It has important application value in many fields like atmospheric remote sensing,target recognition and etc.A simultaneous polarization imaging system was designed and implemented according to the project requirements.Then the research on system calibration and subsequent image fusion enhancement was carried out.The main works are summed as follows:Firstly,the current situation of polarization imaging technology was investigated,and the theory of polarization imaging was sorted out.According to the project requirements,a spacematched polarization imaging system was designed and built using Stokes polarization detection theory.Then we developed the system software platform to realize the functions of camera parameter control,image acquisition and polarization information extraction.Secondly,combined with the system structure,the calibration requirements according to the factors which affect the accuracy of the system were analyzed.Then the appropriate method was chosen to pre-preprocess the system from four aspects: the polarizing plate transmission axis direction angle,the uniformity of the CMOS response,the consistency of the CMOS response and the instantaneous field of the view.After the pre-processing,the system error was well controlled.A multi-optical self-calibration polarization imaging system was proposed.And a simulation experiment was carried out to verify its feasibility.Thirdly,we used the polarization information detection prototype to carry out indoor and outdoor experiments.And the polarization information of different size camouflage targets at different distances was detected.Then a parameter based on polarization degree and polarization angle was proposed.The experiments proved that this parameter can better reflect the polarization information of target.Finally,the fusion algorithm based on wavelet transform and the application of histogram equalization were studied.And the brightness-preserving double histogram equalization algorithm was improved.The effects of different fusion enhancement algorithms on polarized images were analyzed by objective indicators.It proved that the processed polarization images can enrich the details,improve the contrast and highlight the target characteristics.
