Antenna is an important element in the transmitters and receivers in wireless communication systems.The performance of antenna is of great significance in the application of wireless communication technology.In recent years,putting higher requirements on the performance of antennas.For example,antennas are supposed to have higher gain and better directivity to be applicable in narrow tunnels,mines and satellites.The classical Yagi antenna and the array of them have good directionality and high gain.However,Yagi antenna has a significantly greater size and weight,together with greater difficulty to adjust the whole antenna.Besides,the metal rod structure of Yagi antenna makes the antenna unable to conform to other carriers.On the other side,microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna and the array formed by them have advantages of high gain miniaturization and good directionality with low costs and little requirements on manufacturing complexity.Therefore,it is practically beneficial to study microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna and its arrays.Based on the research of microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna at home and abroad,this paper summarizes the widely-used design methods of improving the gain of microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna,and presents several designs of high-gain miniaturized microstrip quasi-Yagi antennas and their arrays.·We design a microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna based on split-ring resonator.A method is introduced to improve the antenna gain: adding eight split-ring resonator elements on the front and back sides of the antenna.As a result,the antenna gain is increased by 1.42 dB and the directivity of it is effectively improved.·Using microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna loaded with split-ring resonator as the unit antenna,we design a planar microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna array covering the WiFi band,whose gain increases to 13.3dB.By adjusting the angle of antenna units,it also achieves the dual polarization performance of the planar microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna array.·Taking the multi-layer microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna as the unit antenna,a 4*4 multi-layer microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna array covering the WiFi band is designed,with a gain reaching 13.4dB.In order to explore the high-gain miniaturization methods of microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna and address the problem of its large space occupation,we propose a design of multi-layer microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna array,which proves to be a good solution in simulation analysis.Compared with the planar microstrip quasiYagi antenna array,the multi-layer microstrip quasi-Yagi antenna array takes less space,and has higher stability,the lower production cost,better conformity,directivity and front-to-back ratio.The research result shows that the multiple microstrip quasi-Yagi antennas and their arrays designed in this paper provide a new approach for the research in high-gain miniaturization of microstrip quasi-Yagi antennas.
