As an improvement on SoC(System on Chip),NoC(Network on Chip)is an inter-communication-based network system, which is realized on an integrated circuit.NoC uses the idea of parallel computer network for reference, realizing communications through the network on the chip, and solving a series of problems caused by bus structure,NoC is rather promising. There are three main aspects of the Network on Chip mainly studies three aspects, the network topology, routing algorithm and switch technique. They determine the layout of the nodes and lines in the network and the way which is used to communicate. The traditional NoC is used to connect each routing node with metal link.On the one hand,a large number of IP cores lead to the increase of wiring complexity. On the other hand, they also lead to the delay of network transmission and more power consumption. Therefore,a new alternatives is needed to solve the communication bottleneck caused by the traditional wired network on chip interconnect structure.WNoC is among the most promising scalable interconnection architectures for future generation NoCs.Due to the development of miniaturized on-chip antennas,intra-chip wireless communication can be achieved, which has high bandwith, low latency and energy dissipation. It can solve the problems encountered in the development of traditional wired Network on Chip.Topology and routing algorithm are the most important research contents for WNoC,and the topology is the basic of wireless network on chip.It decides the distribution and number of wireless nodes and links, can directly affect the network performance. After researching and analyzing the existing structure of wireless network on chip,we propose hybrid WNoC based on multi-hop wireless communication. In this architecture,a wired two-dimensional mesh structure is divided into several identical subnets, and then a wireless hub is added on the 2D NoC.After the node is connected with the wireless hub,the wireless communication is realized. After giving the topology structure,we improve the traditional XY routing algorithm to make it suitable for the hybrid topology proposed in this paper. Finally, the performance of the proposed hybrid topology and routing algorithm is verified by simulation experiments. The simulation experiment is implemented on Noxim simulator. It runs under Ubuntu 14 operating system and adopts uniform traffic model. The simulation results show that the proposed hybrid WNoC architecture has higher network throughput, lower average network delay and total network power consumption, and effectively reduces the network congestion level compared with the traditional network on chip.
