Flexible electronic skin has stimulated significant interest due to its widespread applications in the fields of human-machine interactivity, smart robots and health monitoring. As the core unit of these devices, sensors can use electrospinning technology to produce continuous and uniform nano-sensor materials. The nanofiber membrane prepared by this technology has advantages over traditional materials in terms of specific surface area and flexibility, and provides new ideas and effective methods for people in the field of sensors.Up to now,the fabrication processes of the most reported resistance pressure sensors based on integration of nanomaterials and PDMS films are redundant, expensive and complicated, and the sensors with unknown biological toxicity could not be widely used in electronic skin.Sodium alginate is an edible macromolecule extracted from seaweed. It will not harm human health during use,and has good toughness during stretching, which is a good raw material for sensors. We report a novel,cost-effective and biocompatible approach to immobilizing silver nanoparticles into electrospun Na-alginate nanofibers. The carboxyl groups and the hydroxyl groups of the Na-alginate play an important role in the synthesis and stabilization of silver nanoparticles, resulting in uniform Ag/alginate nanofibers with a high nanoparticle content, uniform nanoparticle distribution. The silver nanoparticles with diameter of 30 nm uniformly distributed inside and outside the alginate nanofibers. The obtained Ag/alginate nanofibers with a mean diameter of 207 nm exhibits good flexibility and great pressure sensitivity. These Ag/alginate nanofibers still have a stable response to static pressure,an ultralow detection limit(1 Pa)and exhibit high durability(1000 cycles).Note that pressure sensor fabricated by these Ag/alginate nanofibers could not only follow human respiration but also accurately distinguish words like "Nano","Perfect" spoke by tester.Interestingly, pressure sensor matrix based on these Ag/alginate nanofibers could monitor distribution of different objects and reflect the weight of the objects by measuring the different current values. Moreover, these Ag/alginate nanofibers exhibit great antibacterial activity, resulting in great potential application in artificial electronic skin.
