Fall is one of the main health problems faced by the elderly today.the study found that the decline of balance ability, gait change and muscle weakness are the main factors leading to the fall of the elderly, and will seriously affect the quality of life of the elderly. As a traditional health-preserving Qigong in China,Five-Animal exercise has been proved to be able to significantly improve the physical function of the elderly.Based on the aging population and the National Fitness Program, this study took the elderly in the ordinary community in Shanghai as the research object, and conducted a 12-week exercise intervention on the elderly in the community through fitness Qigong Five-Animal exercise.their dynamic and static balance ability, gait, lower limb muscle strength and quality of life were evaluated in order to explore the effect of Five-Animal exercise on the balance ability and quality of life of the elderly in the community. Objective:To explore the effects of long-term practice of Five-Animal exercise on balance ability, gait, lower limb muscle strength and quality of life of the elderly in the community. Methods:A total of 66 elderly people in the community were selected as the research object,32 people(20 females and 12 males)who exercised in Five-Animal exercise were selected as the exercise group, and 34 people(21 females and 13 males)who maintained normal living habits and did not exercise were selected as the control group. The exercise cycle is 12 weeks,5 times a week,60 minutes each time, maintaining moderate exercise intensity. Before and after the experiment, the static balance ability of the elderly was compared by standing on one foot with closed eyes and intensive Romberg test, and the changes of dynamic balance ability were reflected by standing up and walking test, walking in place with eyes closed and walking on balance beam.Gait parameters were observed by gait speed, stride length and gait frequency, and muscle strength of lower limbs was reflected by muscle mass of lower limbs after sitting up for 5 times. The SF-36 scale was used to test the quality of life of the elderly, and to comprehensively analyze and explore the effects of Five-Animal exercise on balance ability, gait and quality of life of the elderly in the community.Results:1)the effect of Five-Animal exercise on the static balance ability of the elderly in the community: after the intervention of Five-Animal exercise for 12 weeks, compared with the control group, the scores of the elderly women in the exercise group standing on one foot with eyes closed(P < 0.05)and enhanced Romberg test(P < 0.05)were significantly improved. In the exercise group, the elderly men in the community stood on one foot with eyes closed(P < 0.05)and enhanced Romberg test(P < 0.05).2)the effect of Five-Animal exercise on the dynamic balance ability of the elderly in the community: after 12 weeks of Five-Animal exercise intervention, compared with the control group, the scores of standing up and walking test(P < 0.05)and balance beam walking(P < 0.05)of the elderly women in the exercise group were significantly lower than those in the control group.the performance of walking in place with eyes closed was improved, but there was no significant difference(P < 0.05).In the exercise group, the performance of balance beam walking(P < 0.05)decreased significantly, the performance of standing up and walking test decreased, but there was no significant difference(P > 0.05),but there was no significant difference(P > 0.05).But there was no significant difference(P > 0.05).3)the effect of Five-Animal exercise on the gait of the elderly in the community: after the intervention of Five-Animal exercise for 12 weeks, compared with the control group, the walking speed of the elderly women in the exercise group increased significantly(P < 0.01),and the step length and frequency increased significantly(P < 0.05).In the exercise group, the walking speed of the elderly men in the community increased significantly(P < 0.01),and the step length and frequency increased significantly(P < 0.05).3)the effect of Five-Animal exercise on the lower limb muscle strength of the elderly in the community: after 12 weeks of Five-Animal exercise intervention, compared with the control group, the performance of the elderly women in the exercise group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05).The muscle mass of the left and right lower limbs remained basically unchanged. In the exercise group, the performance of the elderly men who sat up repeatedly for 5 times was also significantly decreased(P < 0.05),and the muscle mass of the left and right lower limbs remained basically unchanged.4)the effect of Five-Animal exercise on the quality of life of the elderly in the community: after 12 weeks of Five-Animal exercise intervention, compared with the control group, the quality of life of the elderly in the exercise group showed significant differences in some dimensions. In terms of physiological dimension, there was no significant difference in physiological function of elderly women in the exercise group(P > 0.05),but the score of the elderly women in the exercise group was slightly higher than that in the control group, and the scores of physiological function(P < 0.05)were significantly improved.and physical pain(P < 0.01)and overall health(P < 0.01)were significantly improved, and the total score of physiological health was also significantly increased.Although there was no statistical difference in physiological function, the score was slightly higher than that of elderly women in the control group. In the exercise group, the scores of body pain(P < 0.05)and overall health(P < 0.01)were significantly increased, but there was no significant difference in physiological function, physiological function and total score of physiological health(P > 0.05).In terms of psychological dimension, the vitality of elderly women in the exercise group was significantly improved(P < 0.05),and there was no significant difference in social function, mental health, emotional function and total score of mental health(P > 0.05).In the exercise group, the scores of social function of elderly men in the community increased significantly(P < 0.05),but there was no significant difference in vitality, mental health, emotional function and total score of mental health(P > 0.05).Conclusions:Long-term Five-Animal exercise can effectively improve the balance ability of the elderly in the community, mainly for the improvement of static balance and dynamic balance ability. In addition,Five-Animal exercise can effectively improve the gait level of the elderly in the community, and at the same time,Five-Animal exercise can improve the quality of life of the elderly to a certain extent in terms of physical and psychological dimensions.
