The rapid development of education in China has given special education an unprecedented opportunity,and the cultivation and professional development of teachers also gain more attention gradually.As the most critical part of teachers' professional level,teaching ability which is a key link of education reform is related to the professional development,and directly affects the quality and effect of teaching.“The Special Education Promotion Plan(2014-2016)” and “The Professional Standards of Special Education Teachers(Trial)” points out the direction for the development of teachers' teaching abilities.Teacher's teaching ability refers to the ability to use specific textbooks,engage in teaching activities and complete teaching tasks.It includes teaching cognitive ability,teaching implementation ability,teaching reflection and evaluation ability.New teachers,as the new blood in the teaching team,adapt to the teaching work is beneficial to the overall development of the teaching team,and directly related to the development of the schools and the quality of special education.This research used questionnaire survey methodand interview method.According to “ The Professional Standards of Special Education(Trial)”,with tool of the self-made questionnaire of teaching ability of new teachers in Mentally Retarded School,this research aims to design problems from three dimensions of teaching ability to summarize the development status of its teaching ability and summarize the existing problems.The study found that: teachers' teaching implementation ability overall is good,other capabilities.According to the existing research data and combined with the investigation,this research analyzes the causes of these problems.The research mainly analyzes and explains from three aspects: the lack of suitability of pre-service training,the little effect of induction education and the reasons of new teachers themselves.Finally,the paper based on the current situation and causes of the development of teaching ability of new teachers in mentally retarded school,puts forward the strategies to effectively promote the improvement of teaching ability of new teachers in mentally retarded school.1.Improve pre-service training: Set specific and diversified training objectives;Optimize the curriculum system and subject content;Adjust educational practice.2.Change to vocational education: Improve the induction training system;Optimize the mentoring pair system;Construct the environment for the growth of new teachers.3.Teachers' self-improvement: Enrich knowledge and reflect on learning;Adjust state of mind and plan for development.
