"I" Like A Kindergarten Teacher

In the modern concept of kindergarten teacher,kindergarten teachers play a critical role in the development of children,who are promoters,guide and supporters.Both the external and internal image of kindergarten teachers can be imperceptibly influential to the development of children.Existing studies mostly conduct analytical research on kindergarten teacher image from the viewpoint of adults,while those from the perspective of children are insufficient and superficial.This study,from the viewpoint of children,focuses on the preference to the external and internal image of teachers.Results of this study can support the theories of children's social cognitive research,and can also provide critical theoretical and practical support for kindergarten teachers to create better images.This study selects 90 children in a kindergarten of Dalian,which evenly distribute according to the grade(the first grade,the second grade,and the third grade)and gender.The picture test method,interview method,painting analysis and literature method are comprehensively used to uncover the internal and external image of children's favorite teacher.This study investigates the external image for kindergarten teachers from five dimensions,including gender,appearance,clothing,figure,and body language behavior.For internal image,this study evaluates from three dimensions,which are the professional idea and ethics,professional knowledge,and professional ability based on the “Kindergarten Teacher Professional Standard(Trial)”.Results show that,for external image:(1)kindergarten children prefer female teacher,while over a quarter prefers male teacher;(2)children prefer female teachers with long hair with a ponytail and male teachers with parting hairstyle;(3)children prefer female teachers with formal pink dresses and male teachers with blue sportswear;(4)children prefer teachers to be tall and slim;(5)children prefer teachers to be sitting while communicating.Meanwhile,for internal image:(1)regarding the professional idea and ethics,children hope that teachers can deal with contradictions reasonably and fairly,respect and protect their creativity,and communicate with them;(2)about professional knowledge,children prefer teachers who will help them in private,lead them to explore,teach with technology,and they prefer female teachers in art class,while male teachers in science class;(3)for professional ability,children prefer teachers who will organize outdoor sports games,connect with their parents,and praise them in private.Finally,this study provides suggestions regarding image creation for kindergartens,universities,and kindergarten teachers based on the results of the teacher image analysis from the viewpoint of children.
