This study that based on the four-phase model of interest development and cognitive load theory investigated the relationship between four types of interest,participants' learning performance and seductive details.The participants who were 101 senior high school students from two similar classes were asked to read a topic text of physics.The topic text is about antimatter.There was a measure of individual interest about physics was administered before every participants learning the text.The reading session was split into three stages.After each stage,both the triggered situational interest and maintained situational interest measures were administered to assess the participants' situational and individual interest.After the three stages,measured the students' emerging individual interest and the recall and transfer performance of the text.Using an exploratory factor analysis to verify the interest questionnaires.The reliability of interest scales were tested found that the reliability of sub scales and total scale were relatively high.The results of analysis of variance(ANOVA)showed that the scores of interest of seductive-detail group were significantly higher than the base-passage group,and the scores of seductive-detail group about performance of the recall were significantly higher than the base-passage group in the measure of situational interest about the physics text,but there was no significance between the scores of seductive-detail group and the base-passage.I found that seductive details only correlated to the triggered situational interest and recall by using of the correlation analysis about seductive details,triggered situational interest,maintained situational interest,emerging individual interest and well-developed individual interest while each stage of interest were pairwise correlation.In addition,the result showed that maintained situational interest mediates the effect of triggered situational interest on emerging individual interest.To sum up,I found that seductive details only had an impact on the triggered situational interest and recall was more susceptible than transfer to the effect of seductive details because transfer performance reflected a deeper understanding of learning materials while recall performance required remembering details.Every stage of interest is not independent of each other in the four-phase model of interest,although the development of interest is successive and staged.What's more,my research found that the triggering of situational interest of students with high physical individual interest was less affected by seductive details in the reading of physical text and the value of the physical text was recognized by the students themselves in the stage of triggered situational Interest.
