Interest is a psychological need for people to know things and acquire knowledge,accompanied by positive emotion.In physical education class,due to the large number of students with a variety of individual interests,it is difficult for teachers to take advantage of individual interest to maximize learning,but also promote students' participation in class.However,with its contextualized characteristics,teachers can manipulate situational interest to enhance students' engagement to promote learning.The purpose of this study was to,1)the personal interest level of middle school angry volleybal;2)to understand the changing trend of situational interest during a volleyball unit;3)explore the influence of gender,age,individual interest and situational interest on learning engagement in the unit.This study through the literature collection of interest and personal interest,situational interest theory knowledge.Participants of this study were 194 middle school students from Erzhong city,who completed relevant questionnaires measuring personal interest,situational interest,and learning engagement through 4 lessons of the volleyball unit.Finally through SPSS 19.0 statistical soffware for descriptive analysis about volleyball personal interest,situational interest and participation,the results showed that the individual interest,situational interest and learning participation of female volleyball students were slightly higher than that of male students,but the independent sample T test showed no significant difference,and the teachers' evaluation of male students'participation was higher than that of female students,and the independent sample T test showed a significant difference.The general situation interest of air volleyball is on the rise and then slowly decline.Through relevant analysis about individual interest,situational interest and learning participation,the results showed that the situational interest was related to individual interest and participation self-report,personal interests and learning engagement of self-evaluation and teacher-evaluation are irrelevant.Nevertheless,the contribution of gender,age,and individual interest to learning was not found,and he results showed that the situational interest was fluctuated in terms of teaching content and skill acquisition and influenced students' learning engagement significantly.Based on the results,physical education teachers can grasp the characteristics of situational interest to expand students' theoretical knowledge of physical education,improve their ability to focus,increase their feeling of novelty and exploration of the exercise for promoting long-time exercise engagement.
