Stenhouse's "Teacher As Researcher" Thought Research | Posted on:2020-02-19 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:X Liu | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2437330575974802 | Subject:History of education | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Lawrence Stenhouse was a world reputed curriculum researcher in England.The idea of "teacher as a researcher" is a major breakthrough in his teaching field.The development and maturity of this idea has mainly experienced four stages of germination,generation,establishment and development.From the perspective of historical development,this paper systematically sorts out the background,development process and subsequent scholars’ innovation of Sternhouse’s "teacher as a researcher".The first chapter of this article mainly introduces the background and life experience of Stenhouse ’s life,which is the realistic basis of its thoughts.The second chapter introduces the theoretical basis of its thoughts.Peters’ s thoughts on "procedure principle",Bruner’s analysis of "structural curriculum" and Hirst’s explanation of "knowledge form" have had an important impact for Stenhouse ’s "teacher as a researcher".The main part of this article is the third chapter."Teacher as a researcher" is proposed by Sternhouse in the course development and teacher teaching.Therefore,only by clarifying its development process,we can grasp the connotation of "teacher as a researcher" as a whole.The idea of "teacher as a researcher" was first spurred by the "humanities curriculum plan" under the guidance of the process model.The change of curriculum requires the change of teaching methods.Sternhouse then proposes “exploratory teaching methods” and “discussion” as an important part of the whole teaching.This requires teachers to no longer lead students to learn in the role of authority,but as The role of "neutral chairman" returns the class to the students.The construction of the new teaching method marks the emergence of the idea of "teacher as a researcher".As a researcher,teachers have gone through the process of being directed and assisted by experts to become independent researchers.In a series of explorations and reflections,Sternhouse recognizes that teacher research is a process in which teachers systematically self-learn by studying the work of other teachers and personally testing the views expressed in the characteristics of the classroom.It is an educational action research.The last chapter introduces the development and influence of the idea of “teacher as a researcher”.In other countries,scholars such as Eliot and Kemis inherit and develop the idea of “teacher as a researcher” and give it a new meaning.A professionalization of teachers has taken place in the world.After being introduced to China in the 1960 s,it also quickly became a trend,which also had an important impact on China’s educational reform. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Humanities, teachers as researchers, teaching, action research | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
