Plane geometry is the key point in junior high school mathematics teaching, and also the key to cultivate students' logical reasoning ability. At present, there are still many problems in geometry teaching. It is difficult for students to understand the geometry content and improve their geometry thinking level. Therefore, how to make students learn geometry better and improve their geometry thinking level is the main purpose of this study. At present,Van Hiele's theory of geometric thinking level is an important reference basis for geometric teaching at home and abroad, and it is one of the most representative theories to promote the development of students' geometric thinking.Based on the above situation, this paper mainly studies the following four issues:(1)What problems do junior high school students have in plane geometry learning?(2)What level of geometric thinking can junior two students reach now?(3)How do teachers design geometry teaching based on Van Hiele theory?(4)Can teachers use Van Hiele theory to effectively guide geometry teaching and develop students' geometric thinking level?Firstly, according to the questionnaire, this paper draws the problems existing in the geometry learning of the second grade students, evaluates the current situation of the students' geometry thinking level according to the test paper of geometry thinking level;secondly, according to Van Hiele's five-stage teaching theory, three teaching experiment cases in "Special Parallel Quadrilateral" are designed and implemented. Finally,in order to verify the effect of Van Hiele theory on students' geometric thinking level, the geometric thinking level of students in experimental class and control class was tested after the teaching experiment. The main conclusions of this study:Students' problems in geometry learning mainly include the following four aspects:(1)Students are not interested in geometry learning and lack of self-confidence;(2)Students do not have a deep understanding of the basic concepts and graphics of geometry. They do not use geometric language and are prone to be disturbed in solving problems.(3)Students' self-regulated learning ability is weak and their learning attitude is not correct enough.(4)Separating theory from practice will not connect geometric knowledge with real life.According to the data of pre-test of geometric thinking level,25.1% of the students in level 2,64.7% in Level 3 and 89.8% in total are in level 2,which shows that most of the students can reach the third level of Van Hiele's geometric thinking level.According to the geometry teaching mode of Van Hiele's theory "exploration conjecture verification application induction",we found that the geometry thinking level of the students in the experimental class has obviously improved, which shows that the geometry teaching mode based on Van Hiele's theory can effectively guide the geometry teaching in junior high school and develop the students' geometry thinking level.
