With the continuous deepening of art education in China,art education is not longer pure technique training,but cultivating students ' key abilities,essential characters,and values.That is the core qualities of art subject.The core qualities of art subject include image recognition,art expression,aesthetic judgment,innovation practice,and culture understanding.Among them,innovation practice refers to the forming innovation consciousness in art activities,and solving problems by applying innovative thinking and innovative methods.The cultivation of innovative thinking is one of the key teaching points in middle school art education,especially for the teaching in design and application field,and also one of the problems confusing art education practice in long term.Therefore,whether a tool which can develop students' innovative thinking effectively can be discovered is a topic deserving study.Such a tool can expand students' thinking better and enable the students to develop the consciousness of thinking.The mind map was put forward by UK educator Tony Buzan in 1970 s.The mind map applies words,symbols,figures,colors and other elements,presents thinking radially,makes the thinking process visible,arouses the inherent creation of the brain,and develops the thinking potential of human maximumly.The mind map,as an effective tool to assist thinking development has been applied and developed in various fields.Art is an visual and modelling art.Among it,figures and innovative thinking are indispensable,which are interlinked with the form and intention of the mind map.Therefore,it is the key study of this paper how to utilize the mind map to cultivate students' art thinking and innovative thinking.This paper mainly take the middle school students as study object,starts from the practical problems in art design and application teaching in middle school,guides the students to apply the mind map tool to conduct painting creation,and promotes middle school students to cultivate innovative thinking and develop thinking method.Through teaching practice,the author proves that the application of the mind map in design and application field is beneficial for the development of students' thinking and the mind map is an effective tool for innovative thinking training.The thesis is composed of five parts to elaborate the issue.In the introduction part,the reasons to conduct this research as well as the goals and methods of the research are introduced.It mainly focuses on the description of the current researchcondition on the connection of mind mapping and fine arts teaching.In the first chapter,the thesis makes some introduction to the basic features of mind map as well as its handling rules.It takes the students and teachers in Jinan Yuying Middle School in Shandong province as the objects of research to study and analyze the application conditions of mind map in the subject fine arts in middle schools.A conclusion is drawn that mind map has a relative high adaptability in the teaching practice of fine arts in middle schools.In the second chapter,the author makes an analysis of the feasibility to apply the mind map to the domain of designing and application in the subject fine arts in middle schools.Some preliminary designing and modification are made to the application rules of the mind map according to the features of the subject fine arts.In the third chapter,the thesis takes an example of Lesson Four Logo Design in the first volume of the textbook,Hunan edition,for grade one students in the middle school.Corresponding teaching design and teaching practice are made accordingly.In the forth chapter,the author makes an analysis of the functions of mind maps in the development students' creative thinking and artistic thoughts on the basis of the results drawn from the teaching practice.
