In the high school mathematics stage, the mathematical word problems are closest to the real life problems and this part of learning is beneficial to students’ whole life.Judging from the situation of students in learning and problems solving in school life, most students have a certain degree of fear in solving the word problems, and they have no confidence in solving the word problems with long text, and they don’t know how to do reasonable analysis. For all of these reasons, students can’t find the quantitative relationship in the word problems. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that affect students’ ability to solve functional word problems through exploratory research.According to the influencing factors,I try to give specific teaching strategies and suggestions to improve students’ ability to solve functional word problems. The main problems in this study are:1.What are the main factors that affect senior high school students to solve functional word problems?2.What is the influential factor model of high school function word problem? This study mainly uses a combination of literature analysis and questionnaires.Through the analysis and summary of the literature of word problems teaching research,I can get the factors that are commonly recognized in most studies that affecting word problem solving.I selected relevant factors as reference to conduct investigation, test and analysis of students in a high school in xuhui district.Through the test and the corresponding questionnaires,we can analyze the most influential factors of high school students in solving functional application problems. The influencing factors are analyzed, and teaching suggestions are put forward according to the conclusions. The study has the following conclusions:1.Through the qualitative analysis of the test paper,it is found that students have four main problems in solving functional application problems, which are inadequate understanding of the situation, inadequate representation of the problem, inadequate mastery of functional knowledge and out-of-practice situation.2.Through the quantitative analysis of the questionnaire and the regression analysis of the factors,it is found that there are five internal factors that significantly affect the performance of the functional application questions, including situational understanding, problem representation, problem classification,self-assessment of answers and type of function. These five factors account for 87.7% of the change in performance in functional application problems.3.Among all factors, problem representation plays a more prominent role in this study than other factors, and the more complex the relationship of data is,the more obvious the influence of representation method is.
