Research On The Influence Of Social Support On The Reproductive Choice Of Second-born Mothers

The issue of fertility has always been the focus of attention of experts and scholars all over the world.Especially since the liberalization of the two-child policy in China,the issue of fertility selection of second-child mothers has become the focus of social workers' research.By reviewing the domestic and foreign literatures about second-child mothers,fertility selection,social support and the research status of fertility selection of the second-child mothers,we find that the theories of social support's influence on the birth selection of the second-born mothers is relatively weak which cannot guide the objective practice of second birth selection in China.Therefore,the research about social support's influence on the fertility selection of second-child mothers not only has theoretical significance to expand the application scope of social support theory from the perspective of combination of qualitative and quantitative,but also facilitates the formulation of fertility policies,fertility rate and the alleviation of China's population aging.This research has achieved innovation in research objects and research perspectives.It also carries out innovative research from the perspective of second-child mothers while studying the influencing factors of second-child birth selection based on the perspective of social support at the same time.This thesis takes fertility selection and social support as the theoretical foundation,using literature analysis method,questionnaire survey method,on-site interview method,qualitative and quantitative combined analysis method,etc.Taking the second-child mothers in Nangang District of Harbin as examples,530 questionnaires and 16 interviews' data have been lucubrated statistically and thoroughly.It is found that the main influencing factors of the second-child mothers' selection to give birth are the husbands' support,good marital relations,the husbands' economic ability,the efforts of elders to raise children,the drive from friends,colleagues and other family members,the liberalization of the two-child policy and the support from their companies.Nevertheless,the second-child mothers are still facing the lack of informal and formal social support in their fertility selection.The solution to the lack of informal social support is to respect them,attach importance to psychological construction of women of childbearing age,improve women's family status,and strengthen support for women of childbearing age.In terms of formal social support,fertility policy should be improved and reinforced while the propaganda should be guidance to the public as well.
