The operation ability is the basic mathematical ability of pupils,and it is also an important factor that affects the students' mathematics achievement.After ten years'mathematics curriculum reform,"Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011)",increases operation ability as one of the ten mathematics curriculum core ideas.The resubmission of the core concept of operation ability shows that the state attaches great importance to the cultivation of mathematical operation ability.Primary school stage is an important period to the cultivation of pupils' operation ability,and it will also affect the students' future mathematics learning,especially to the students in the second learning moment who are from the concrete operation stage to the formal operation stage.Based on this,the study explores the present situation of students' operation ability.This study chooses more than four hundred pupils who are in the second learning moment as study object and uses the questionnaire which is revised by Professor Wu Hanrong of Huazhong University of Science and Technology called Chinese pupils'mathematics basic ability test scale.The conclusions of the study are as follows:1.In the dimensions of mathematical operation ability,the ability of students to complete the division and multiplication is better than others and the comparison ability is the worst.2.Addition,subtraction,multiplication,division,filling,comparison and operation ability score have a significant positive correlation.The operation ability is closely related to each dimension.3.There is no significant gender difference in the students' operation ability and other dimensions,but there are significant grade differences and school differences.In addition,there are significant differences in the operation ability between the students whether they like mathematics and the students whether they have extracurricular tutoring.There are significant differences in the addition,multiplication and comparison between the students whether they have the homework set by parents,but there is no significant difference in other dimensions.4.The mistakes in the dimensions of operation ability are incorrect add carry,incorrect subtraction abdication,confused operation,inaccurate grasp of multiplication table and incorrect understanding of the relationship between the addition and subtraction.According to the above conclusions,this study suggests that teachers can help pupils to improve their operation ability by using multi-dimensional and diverse practice mode,emphasizing the teaching of operation concept,formula and rule,strengthening pithy formula teaching,analysizing and using the operation mistakes effectively,and attaching importance to the cultivation of students' non-intelligence factors.
