Biological science is a basic discipline in natural science,which studies the phenomena of life and the law of life activity.As a subject of the ordinary high school learning field,biology course aims to improve students' biological attainment at the basis of compulsory education.One of the basic concepts of "ordinary high school biology curriculum standard(experiment)"(hereinafter referred to as "standard")is to advocate inquiry learning,which is developed in the process of learning biology,and the necessary characters and key abilities in solving real situation problems,including life concept,rational thinking,scientific inquiry ability and social responsibility.The rich and valuable curriculum resources provide a good support for inquiry learning Among the diversity of curriculum resources,biology historical data is one of the most valuable resources It contains the process and methods of scientific research,the formation and development of core concepts,the influence and inheritance of scientific spirit.Thus,the importance of historical material in biology teaching is getting higher and higher degree of attention.The historical material teaching can improve the students' biological attainment and cultivate students' scientific inquiry ability,innovation ability,logically thinking ability and so on.It was started from the background of the subject in this study,including background,current situation,problems,research methods and significance of historical material teaching.Related theories of historical material teaching and exploratory teaching were expounded.Then,the historical materials of new curriculum experimental textbook of high school(People's Education Edition),analysizes the educational value of historical data and shows typical cases.Finally,this paper proceeds to the teaching exploration by applying historical material to biology teaching:cultivating students' inquiry learning ability,re-experiencing scientists' way of exploring,establishing the subject thinking,learning and experiencing the research methods of science and technology so that students can develop the scientific spirit of bold innovation and practice.By doing self-examination after class,there is a outlook about application of the historical material in high school biology teaching.It was shown that historical material teaching was a new teaching model created by the teacher under the guidance of teaching theories and it was different from the traditional one.With the development of teaching theories,educators laid more emphasis on cultivating students' inquiry learning ability,which had important practical significance in developing students' biology attainment.It was proved that historical material teaching enriched biology teaching models,encouraged students' participation,inspires students' desire for knowledge,and developed students' subject thinking and attitude to learning.By analyzing of three practical cases of historical material teaching and the effect of feedback,it helped students understand the relationship between biological science,technological development and social changes,enhanced the sense of responsibility for nature and society,and promoted students to form a correct world view and values,which had a certain reference value for promoting the biology curriculum reform of high school.Historical material teaching has a broad prospect in high school biology curriculum reform.With the popularity of electronic equipment and the development of informationtechnology,it is convenient to collect historical data.Teachers can use historical material in lead-in,setting questions,extension,designing guidance learning cases.We can use historical material in flipped classroom teaching model to inspire students to think and discuss.We can also use historical material to do further textual research on controversial issues at present in the subject of biology and so on.
