A Comparative Analysis Of High School Mathematics Teaching Materials A Version And IBDP Version

With the increasing trend of globalization of education,the international comparative study of mathematics education has become a hot issue.Textbooks are the concretion of curriculum standard and an effective carrier for teachers and students to carry out teaching activities together and they have important theoretical significance for the comparative study of textbooks.Through the analysis of the existing documents,the author finds that the comparative study of Chinese and foreign textbooks mainly focuses on the modules of algebra,geometry,probability and statistics,and the comparative study of the Sequence of Numbers of Chinese textbooks and international school textbooks is still a blank.So,in this article,the A edition of People's Education Press and the IBDP edition of the textbooks are selected.The author carries out the comparative study in four aspects:the content structure,the arrangement form,the content setting and the examples and exercises,and draws the following conclusions.(1)In the content structure,the arrangement sequence of the contents of the two versions of textbooks is slightly different;the title content of the IBDP edition is more detailed than that of the A version of the People's Education Press,and the contents of the catalogue are more.(2)There are some differences between the two versions of textbooks in the form of layout.The A version of People's Education Press has three more sections compared with the IBDP edition,which are reading and thinking,information technology application and exploration and discovery.Meanwhile,IBDP has four more sections which are TOK,research,activities and historical notes than the A version of People's Education Press.(3)Terms of content settings,the form and function of the introduction part of the two versions of textbooks are different.The A version of People's Education Press is more detailed in the establishment of concepts than the IBDP edition.(4)On the design of examples and exercises,there is no obvious difference in the number of examples between the two editions of textbooks.The comprehensive difficulty of examples in the A version of people's education press is larger than that in IBDP textbooks.The number of exercises in IBDP version is much more than that in An edition of People's Education Press.In terms of the two factors,background and calculation,the difficulty of exercises in the An edition of People's Education Press is larger than that of the IBDP version while the difficulty of exercises of the IBDP edition on the three factors,exploration,reasoning and content knowledge,is bigger than that of the An edition of People's Education Press,but with no much difference.The Compilation Characteristics of the An edition of People's Education Press are as follows:(1)It pays attention to the relationship between former and latter knowledge,and infiltrate mathematical thinking.(2)It creates problem situations which are inspiring and readable.(3)The design of the exercises is of different levels.The compilation features of IBDP edition are as follows:(1)It pays attention to the application of information technology.(2)The activities of exploration are abundant and pursue the essence of mathematics knowledge.(3)The amount of knowledge that has been is very large.According to the conclusion drawn from the comparison,the author puts forward some personal suggestions on the compilation of the content of Sequence of Numbers.First,appropriately add more contents to series.Second,integrate the information technology.Third,pay attention to the diversification of the design of the background of the examples.Fourth,increase the number of exercises properly.Sincerely hope this study can enable mathematics teachers of senior high schools to understand the international curriculum and the textbooks,and provide references for our compilers of the textbooks.
