In the past three decades,the comparison of textbooks has become increasingly popular in educational research.After reviewing the relevant literature,it is found that on the one hand,there are not many comparative studies of the number series in the textbooks.While chances are that the number series appears as an ultimate question in the college entrance examination,which means this content plays an important part in high school.On the other hand,there are relatively few comparative researches on textbooks in the mainland ,Hong Kong and Taiwan in previous studies,so the comparison of the number series in senior high school mathematics textbooks in the mainland,Hong Kong and Taiwan is of great significance.Therefore,the comparison of sequence content in high school mathematics textbooks in the mainland,Hong Kong,and Taiwan is of great significance,which is conducive to enriching the mainland The comparative research results of textbooks in Hong Kong and Taiwan help frontline teachers understand the current situation of textbook writing for the content of numerical sequences in the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and three regions,thus redeveloping mathematics textbooks in teaching.In order to deeply study the similarities and differences in the content of mathematics textbooks in senior high schools in mainland ,Hong Kong and Taiwan,this study sets the following research questions:(1)What are the commonalities and differences in the presentation characteristics of the content of the series?(2)What are the commonalities and differences in the presentation structure of the content of the series?(3)Are there differences in mathematical expectations regarding the content of the series?(4)According to the advantages and disadvantages of different versions of mathematics textbooks,what are the suggestions for teachers to use the textbooks?In the mainland ,Renjiao A version is widely used,and the Sujiao version is a local textbook with distinctive characteristics.While the Pearson version and the Hanlin version are the textbooks with a large circulation in Hong Kong and Taiwan respectively.Therefore,this paper selects four different mathematics textbooks:the mainland Renjiao version and the Sujiao version,Hong Kong’s Pearson version,and Taiwan’s Hanlin version as the research object,and employs the literature analysis method,content comparison method and quantitative research method to analyze from the macro and micro levels in the content presentation characteristics,presentation structure and expectations for students.Based on the research conclusion and taking the Sujiao version as an example,the use of senior high school mathematics textbooks is proposed for teachers as follows:1.According to the learning situation of the students,appropriate exercises should be selected to adapt to the development of students;2.Guide students to learn to use different colors to make marks or notes to highlight the key and difficult points of teaching;3.Infiltrate the rich history and culture of mathematics into the mathematics class and improve students’ competency;4.Delve into the relationship between the content of the series and humanities and arts,and improve aesthetic education;5.Help students initially understand the concept of series and perfect the knowledge structure system of the series;6.Adjust the learning order of teaching materials appropriately according to the characteristics of the students;7.Find out the learning situation of students and determine whether it is necessary to extend the corresponding proportion of class hours;8.Adopt new method of introduction which is suitable for the students to meet the needs of students’learning.
