In this thesis, the Manchu Tun Township,a sample of the Manchu and Mongolian people living together and extensive contact, was selected as the research object.Combining field survey data, the theory of ethnic groups and ethnic boundaries was used to study the local Manchus. The historical background such as the marriage between Manchu and Mongolia and the natural realistic conditions for engaging in livestock husbandry are the reasons why Manchu Tun formed the current "Mongolian-ish" Manchu group. The full text consists of three chapters. The main content of the first chapter is to clarify the core concepts and explain the historical realistic background of the Manchu Tun.The main content of the second chapter is to describe the cultural conventions such as naming, festivals, food, language, funeral, residence, etc.based on field materials, and to summarize the specific cultural phenomena and psychological cognition. And also explore methods for the Manchu to construct and maintain ethnic boundaries. The main content of the third chapter is to comprehensively consider the etic perspective and the emic perspective of cultural phenomenon interpretation, and to refine the local Manchu group behavior patterns from the perspective of cultural characteristics formation and construction and maintenance of psychological boundaries.Last but not least,to talk about reactions when dealing with practical issues such as maintaining ethnic boundaries and facing identity anxiety.
