Research On Communitarian Citizen Virtue Thought

Good civic virtue is not only an important spiritual force in the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era,but also one of the important qualities of citizens in the new era.Communitarianism is one of the important schools of western political philosophy.The communitarian civic virtue thought not only alleviates the aggravation of western moral crisis to some extent,but also provides a positive revelation for us to solve the moral dilemma in the process of our country's social development and to cultivate and promote civic virtue.Generating under the background of the failure of western moral enlightenment,the intensification of social moral crisis,the serious polarization between the rich and the poor and the weakening of state functions,the communitarian civic virtue thought has been constantly developed and improved in the debate with liberalism.On the basis of the ancient Greek community theory and Aristotle's traditional virtue theory,the communitarians put forward the idea that justice is not only a moral rule but also a civic virtue.They put forward the patriotic virtue thought of returning to tradition and maintaining "public good",aiming at the problem of rampant individualism and state functions weakening in the west.In order to enhance citizens' interest in public issues and their sense of responsibility and participation,they put forward the practical virtue thought of active participation in public affairs.As an important western virtue theory,the communitarian civic virtue thought has rich theoretical value.Communitarists used historicism methodology in discussing the thought of civic virtue,which not only revealed the inherent correspondence between civic virtue and interest and pointed out the non-moral limitations of liberal justice theory,but also emphasized the importance of education in the cultivation of civic virtue.As a virtue theory that emphasizes the maintenance of public good,the communitarian civic virtue thought has some learning value for enhancing the virtue consciousness of Chinese citizens and enhancing their virtue ability.There are still some limitations in the thought of civic virtue of communitarianism,such as too simple understanding of practice,insufficient attention to the particularity of individual interests and insufficient respect for individual values.We should pay attention to avoiding these problems while learning from them.
