A Study On The Geospatial Pattern Of The Origin And Development Of Early Cities And Towns In The Gucheng Lake Basin

To explore the origin and development of early cities and towns from the perspective of geographic space is an important way to study the sustainable development of cities and towns.From the perspective of geographic space,it can not only excavate the historical and cultural value of the town,but also grasp the landscape pattern characteristics inherited in the process of urban evolution and touch the historical basis of urban development.The Gucheng Lake Watershed has a long history,and towns appeared as early as the Spring and Autumn Period,and it is located between Wu and Chu countries.It is closely related to the development of historical towns in the surrounding area and affects each other.Therefore,taking the Gucheng Lake Watershed as a research area,it is typical to conduct research on the spatial pattern of urban origin and development.The research area of this paper is the Gucheng Lake Watershed,and the research object is the towns in the Gucheng Lake Watershed,with the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period as the research period.Based on the relevant theories of historical geography,cultural geography,ancient political geography,and historical river basin,the article combs the origin and development of towns in the Gucheng Lake Watershed with the help of historical data interpretation methods,comparative research methods,and field research methods.Process,pointing out the number and location of Neolithic cultural sites in the watershed;With the aid of the drawn schematic diagram and the historical context organized above,the spatial pattern characteristics of the origin and development of towns in the Gucheng Lake basin are summarized,as well as the historical and geographical connection with the origin of Nanjing;The dynamic mechanism of the evolution of the spatial pattern of the early towns in the Gucheng Lake Basin is studied and summarized from the perspective of natural geospatial,cultural geography-related perspectives,the political geography perspective of "Wu Tou Chu Wei" and the concept of corridors in historical basin science.On this basis,it displays the profound historical culture contained in the Gucheng Lake Watershed,links the research of historical towns with the promotion of historical culture,and promotes the cultural development of the research area;at the same time,it discovers the urban landscape features inherited in the development of Gucheng Lake Watershed towns.As a historical basis for urban development,it can provide a reference for the urban landscape planning and protection of the Gucheng Lake Watershed,as well as provide guidance for the rational development and protection of lakes and rivers in the Gucheng Lake Watershed,as well as the sustainable development of the Gucheng Lake Watershed and surrounding areas.Through research and analysis,this paper draws some conclusions as follows:(1)The characteristics of the overall development process of the town are as follows: the early development of the Gucheng Lake Watershed is closely related to the Taihu Watershed and Wuhu area in history.The relocation and establishment of Wu Kingdom is the beginning.From the border military base of Wu State to the capital of Chu’s eastward springboard.From the capital of Chu State to being burned and abandoned,it was rebuilt during the Warring States Period,but the status of the town declined significantly.(2)In the Gucheng Lake Watershed,the town as a whole expands to the low mountains and hills in the east,but the overall position does not change much.It is still located at the intersection of Gucheng Lake and Xuxi River;jumping out of the Gucheng Lake watershed,the town has the direction of the Zhongjiang waterway.The characteristics of the cross-regional spatial changes in the east development.In addition,the towns in the Gucheng Lake basin are the earlier historical origins of Nanjing City.(3)The unique geographical space of the Gucheng Lake Watershed is the basic condition for the origin and development of towns.The entire watershed is located in the middle of ancient Wuhu and Taihu Lakes,relying on the relics of Maoshan and Tianmu Mountains.The diffusion development of the Yangtze River system and the Taihu Lake system is the internal driving force for the origin and development of cities and towns;the war activities brought about by the political and geographical pattern of the ancient "Wu Tou Chuwei" are the direct driving forces for the origin and development of cities and towns.
