| The symbolism of painting is embodied in the two aspects of cultural meaning and form elements.The two are external to each other,and have long existed in the development of painting art.Symbolism can achieve the aesthetic effect of "exhaustive expression and endless meaning" in its suggestive way of expression,which enables people to produce a holistic comprehension derived from the form of painting in their imagination.Therefore,the strength and depth of the aesthetic experience depends on the symbolism of the painting.This article takes the study of the Thousand Hands and Thousand Eyes Guanyin Portrait in Cave 148 of Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang as an example,combined with historical literature and image data,based on the cultural context,the form of the Thousand Hands Guanyin portrait and the theory of iconography,taking the historical background and the Buddhist sutra as specific The context focuses on the formal analysis of the shape,color,dynamics and space of the portrait to present the various symbolic ways in the portrait.From the picture atmosphere created by the painting form to the artistic conception formed by the interweaving of emotions and ideas,the aesthetic effect and lofty realm of the Guanyin portrait with thousands of hands and eyes are summarized,and the symbolic value as the inherent attribute of painting is clearly defined. |
