Teachers' professional identity is teachers' positive cognition,experience and behavior tendency to their profession and internalized professional role,and it will make a difference to in-service and pre-service teachers.Good professional identity can stimulate teachers' professional enthusiasm and can be transformed into their motivation of continuous learning;while bad professional identity can become a stumbling block for teachers' progress and affect their professional will,which leads to burnout or turnover intention.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the status quo and differences of their professional identity.In this study,54 senior high school English teachers from three different levels in Wanzhou city and 38 English Education Masters(pre-sevice English teachers)from a university in Wanzhou were taken as samples.The combination of questionnaire survey and interview survey was used to investigate the status quo,differences and influencing factors of professional identity between senior high school English teachers and pre-service English teachers.First of all,the author finds that:(1)the overall level of professional identity of senior high school English teachers is a little higher than that of pre-service English teachers,but there are no significant differences between them.(2)Among the factors of professional identity,the average value of professional expectation of senior high school English teachers is the highest,while the average value of professional values is the lowest;the average value of professional expectation of pre-service English teachers is the highest,while the average value of professional ability is the lowest.(3)Among the factors of professional identity,there are very significant differences between senior high school English teachers and pre-service English teachers in professional expectation and professional ability identity,but no significant differences in professional emotion,professional will and professional values.Then,the author analyzed the factors that influenced the differences of professional identity between senior high school English teachers and pre-service English teachers from three aspects: personal factors,school factors and social factors.Personal factors will affect the professional ability of senior high school English teachers and pre-service English teachers,while school factors and socialfactors will affect their professional emotion,professional will,professional values and professional expectations.Finally,the author put forward some suggestions for teachers,schools and society.The suggestions for senior high school English teachers are as follows:(1)teachers should keep pace with the times and constantly improve their professional ability.(2)Schools should guarantee the fairness of teachers' Professional Title Evaluation and give teachers more opportunities to improve their professional ability.(3)Schools should carry out humanized management to relieve the pressure of English teachers.(4)The society should evaluate teachers objectively and fairly,and create a correct atmosphere of public opinion.(5)The government should guarantee teachers' salary income and increase the expenditure of education funds.The suggestions for pre-service English teachers are as follows:(1)pre-service English teachers should pay attention to improving their professional teaching ability.(2)Colleges and universities should pay more attention to the practicality of courses and strengthen the cooperation with practice schools.(3)The government and the education sector should create fair competition opportunities.The author hopes that the joint efforts of all parties can improve the professional identity of senior high school English teachers and pre-service English teachers,stimulate their professional feelings,strengthen their professional will,sublimate their professional values,cultivate appropriate professional expectations,improve their professional ability,and then promote the quality of senior high school English education.
