A Multi-angle Investigation Of "Zi X" Adverbs

“Zi X” adverbs is a kind of closed word in “Zi X” bisyllable words.This paper mainly studied the syntax,semantics,pragmatics,lexicalization and grammaticalization of “Zi X” adverbs from multiple perspectives.In the process of investigation,synchronic description and diachronic exploration are combined to describe and study the adverbs of “Zi X” from syntax,semantics and pragmatics.On the diachronic level,the paper focuses on the process of lexicalization and grammaticalization of individual members of “Zi X” adverbs,and analyzes the causes and mechanisms of lexicalization and grammaticalization.The full text is divided into five part.The main contents of each part are as follows:The first part is the introduction.Firstly,the research object of this paper is determined to be eight “Zi X” adverbs.Secondly,this paper expounds the research significance;Then,the paper summarized the research status of "Zi" and“Zi X”adverbs and the research status of the lexicalization and grammaticalization of“Zi X”adverbs.At last,this paper makes clear the research method and corpus source.The second part mainly study “Zi X” adverbs from the synchronic approach.Firstly,the paper classified “Zi X” adverbs.The eight “Zi X” adverbs belong to three categories of descriptive adverbs,commentary adverbs and restrictive adverb.Then the paper analyzes the syntax,semantics and pragmatics of the three kinds of adverbs respectively.It is found that “Zi X” adverbs have certain flexibility in syntactic position,syntactic function and co-occurrence with other adverbs.The lexical meaning of descriptive “Zi X” type adverbs is stronger than that of commentary “Zi X”type adverbs and restrictive “Zi X” type adverbs.The commentary “Zi X” type adverbs mainly has functional meaning.It can express the subjective attitude and evaluation of the speaker.And it has the textual cohesion function of inference and interpretation.The restricted “Zi X” adverbs,which emphasize the continuity of time in time sense.They are objective and have certain function of emphasis in discourse.The third part mainly makes a diachronic investigation of “Zi X” adverbs.The paper respectively explored the process of lexicalization and grammaticalization of the three kinds of adverbs.It is found that the lexicalization and grammaticalization of“Zi X” adverbs are closely related to the grammaticalization of “Zi” and the semantic and grammaticalization of “X”.There are similarities and their own characteristics ofthe process of lexicalization and grammaticalization of “Zi X” adverbs.The fourth part mainly analyzes the cause and mechanism of lexicalization and grammaticalization of“Zi X” adverbs.The study found that the main reasons for the lexicalization and grammaticalization of “Zi X” adverbs are: prosodic factor,syntactic factor,semantic factor and frequency factor.The main mechanisms involved in the lexicalization and grammaticalization of “Zi X” adverbs are: metaphor and metonymy mechanism,chunking mechanism,reanalysis mechanism and subjectivity and subjectivism.The fifth part is the conclusion,which summarizes the research results and shortcomings of this paper.
