In this paper, the common polysemy structure of " good X" in modern Chinese is selected asthe research object. Based on the systematic analysis of corpus, a systematic and deep study iscarried on to the structures of the three planes, namely the syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Thestudy includes both the analysis of the synchronic plane and the diachronic evolution ofexploration, and to a certain extent, to draw a clear conclusion of the specific usage of "good".In the first chapter, the author makes a brief summary of the study meaning and generalsituation of "good X" structure, and briefly introduces the main contents and the purpose of thispaper, as well as the theory, method and data sources.In the second chapter, the author discusses the semantic classification of "good X". Basedon the three authoritative dictionaries,"good" in the structure of "good X" is inducted into fourmeanings, e.g. the meaning of nature, the meaning of status, the meaning of degree and themeaning of relevance. This chapter started with the four kinds of semantic types, combining withlanguage phenomenon, making a clear conclusion of the grammatical meaning, semanticorientation and the option of " X" in" good X".In the third chapter, the author discusses the syntactic distribution of "good X". Based onthe previous research results, the author inducts " X" in "good X" into four usage, e.g. adjectives,adverbs, auxiliary verbs and conjunctions, which will be the classification standard to study thesyntactic functions of "good X".In the fourth chapter, the pragmatic value of "good X" is undertook a systematic analysis.This chapter has been studied the pragmatic value of "good" as adjectives, adverbs, auxiliaryverbs and conjunctions.Based on the investigation of the diachronic corpus, the fifth chapter includes thegrammaticalization process of “X" in "good X", further the causes and mechanisms of thisprocess.The sixth chapter is the conclusion, pointing out the research innovation points anddeficiencies.
