Population is the total number of people in a certain area, and it is the basis of the operation and existence of social civilization.Population statistics studies population phenomenon from the aspect of "quantity".As an important part of demography, gender ratio plays an important role in population research.China has a deeply rooted historical tradition of preference for men over women, which affects the gender ratio of the social population. The imbalance of sex ratio not only affects the employment and marriage of the population, but also easily causes the illegal behaviors such as provocation, fighting and so on,and then interferes with the social stability. Therefore, the sex ratio of population is related to the stability and development of the whole society,so it is particularly important to study the sex ratio of population.According to the content, this paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter summarizes the population situation of China from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China from two aspects of population quantity and population sex ratio. In this period, although the society is turbulent and the scuffle is continuous, the total population of China still shows the trend of continuous and slow growth, and the number of male population is more than that of female population. It can be seen from the data tables and maps that the gender ratio of the population in the region has a positive correlation with the level of regional economic development. The gender ratio of the population in Northeast and Southeast China is much higher than that in the western inland region. The second chapter discusses the changing trend of the sex ratio of the population in China from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China.According to the collected historical data,it summarizes the changes of the sex ratio of the population in the whole country and regions. The sex ratio of the population in China increased year by year from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, especially in the southwest Sichuan Chongqing area and the southeast coastal area.In the third chapter, according to the regional differences of the population data map,the author takes Sichuan Chongqing region and chasui region as examples to analyze.Compared with Yunnan,Guizhou and other places in the southwest, the sex ratio of population in Sichuan and Chongqing is higher;compared with other areas in North China, the sex ratio of population in suicha is higher. In the fourth chapter, the author makes a concrete analysis of the areas where extreme sex ratio data of population appears in the process of data collection, and explores the social and natural reasons for its formation. The fifth chapter expounds the social and historical background and influence of the sex ratio of the population from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China and its effect on the social and historical development. The sixth chapter is concerned about the reality, through the research of this paper,it puts forward historical opinions and suggestions for the social problem of the imbalance of the sex ratio of the population in our country.By sorting out a large number of local chronicles and population survey data of the accounting office of the executive yuan of the Republic of China from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, this paper tries to restore the population situation, the changing trend of the sex ratio of the population and the regional differences of the sex ratio to the greatest extent, and makes a specific comparative analysis of the data of the extreme sex ratio of the population recorded in the historical materials,so as to summarize the sex ratio of the population from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China The historical law of ratio change makes a contribution to the study of population problem in China.
