Peasants, have self-evident meaning to national economy and people's livelihood. However,in the long history of Chinese art, peasants almost disappeared.Until the period of the national revolution that the appearance of peasants began to appear in the literary and the art works. After the founding of new China, the image of peasants gradually became the leading role in art works and became a classic during the cultural revolution. However, rather than focusing on the peasants and achieving the so-called "revolutionary realism",the image of the peasants becomes the metaphorical carrier of the experience and efforts of the country's modernization construction in the process of new China's fine arts. The substantiality of its existence is greatly idealized. After the establishment of the new Republic,a large number of literary and artistic works tell us that in the image of peasants in new China, the image characteristics of "being imagined","being shaped" and "being generated" cannot be avoided. In view of these characteristics, the "seventeen years of fine arts" since new China has gradually completed the construction of national spirit and modern ideal, the improvement of mainstream value orientation and the identification of artists' self-identity through shaping the image of peasants.
