As an important part of the Chinese painting art system,Dunhuang frescoes preserved a large number of landscape images. In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, when the art remains in the central plains were very rare,Dunhuang frescoes filled the gap and became the necessary information for the study of the art style of landscape painting at this stage.Because of the long unity and prosperity of Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the smooth silk road, the cultural and artistic exchanges between Dunhuang and the central plains are very convenient.Through the blue and green landscapes in Dunhuang frescoes of Sui and Tang Dynasties,we can see the universal landscape painting style at that time. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the art style and development of the green landscape in Dunhuang murals in Sui and Tang Dynasties. This paper holds that the green landscape in Dunhuang frescoes in Sui and Tang Dynasties is the product of the integration of Buddhist culture and Central Plains culture, and it takes the Central Plains landscape painting art style as the leading role, showing a trend of development from decoration to realism. The color of Dunhuang mural landscape was influenced by the green system of western regions, and developed into the mainstream color system of landscape in Sui and Tang Dynasties. Most of the green landscapes in the Dunhuang frescoes of the Sui Dynasty inherited the patterning style of the period of the Sixteen Kingdoms and the Northern Dynasties. However, with the gradually prominent position of landscapes in the Dunhuang frescoes and the application of "hook dye method" from the Central Plains, the landscape of the Central Plains appeared for the first time in the mountains, stones, trees and water. In the early Tang Dynasty, the composition and spatial expression of the green landscape were constantly improved, the ability of line modeling was mature, and the use of color was more pure, forming a typical green landscape style, which was synchronized with the Central Plains painting style. In the late Tang Dynasty, with the introduction of ink techniques in the Central Plains, the use of texturing and painting in the green landscape of Dunhuang murals became more obvious, making them realistic.First of all, this paper studies the style development of green landscape in Dunhuang frescoes in Sui and Tang Dynasties, which is divided into Sui Dynasty, early Tang Dynasty(early Tang Dynasty, prosperous Tang Dynasty),late Tang Dynasty(middle Tang Dynasty, late Tang Dynasty).Through the analysis of typical and representative mural landscapes and the use of relevant records, and the Central Plains in the same period of the scroll green landscape painting for comparison,so as to comb out the Sui and Tang Dunhuang murals in the style of green landscape development. On this basis, focusing on the important elements of the blue and green landscape in the Sui and Tang Dunhuang frescoes, that is,rocks, trees and water, focusing on the analysis of their modeling style characteristics.Secondly,it explores the reasons for the formation of the green landscape style in the Dunhuang murals of Sui and Tang Dynasties and the factors that promote the development of the style. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the formation of its green system, technical formula and realistic characteristics of the Tang Dynasty. Finally,it explores the application of modern means in the green landscape of Dunhuang murals in Sui and Tang Dynasties.By mining its formal elements, grasping the aesthetic law,and combining the landscape paintings of modern artists,we can find the inheritance and development of the ancient.
