Research On TED Speeches From The Perspective Of Rhetoric

With the continuous development of global integration,national image building plays a more prominent role in international competition.But with China's rapid economic and cultural growth,western countries have a more cautious and complex view of contemporary China.Facing the severe test,President xi jinping proposed to "tell China's story well and spread China's voice well",hoping to build China's national image and improve China's cultural soft power by "telling China's story".TED speech platform,as the world's most active online learning community and Internet speech platform,is typical,and the Chinese story speech model presented by the platform can also be regarded as a successful model for case analysis.Discourse analysis,this paper select TED China the speaker do Chinese story as sample,selection of time range is 2006-August 2019 TED speech video website,all of which involves "the Chinese speak Chinese story" the text of the label with the words of statistics and analysis,to study these video,filtered,a total of 18 speech video,for the actual sample.By connecting discourse analysis tools with China's current external communication context,this paper explores the logic and framework of its textual rhetoric.From the perspective of rhetoric,this paper analyzes the discourse characteristics and framework of Chinese stories,and probes into how Chinese TED speakers shape Chinese stories in the context of new media,and what enlightenment they have to China's cross-cultural communication practice.This paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter from the perspective of discourse construction,classifying the selected TED speech samples,based on narrative structure and layout structure,from the Angle of narrative,narrative to the title of the text,opening,climax,ending multiple levels,inductive narrative structure and layout of the structure of the characteristics of the speech,to more fully explain public speech about how China's story with common characteristics.The second chapter mainly discusses the linguistic symbols and non-linguistic symbols in the selected speech materials,and summarizes the linguistic characteristics of speech by referring to the rhetoric devices in the traditional sense and the methods of analyzing other elements of speech.Combined with the specific text material,this paper explains in more detail how to apply the rhetorical method to the best state in the public speech.The third chapter provides Suggestions on how to tell a good Chinese story from both the content of the speech and the speaker.In the selection of speech content,according to the current environment of globalization and the theory of cultural proximity,the story content should be constantly adjusted according to the needs of the audience.Instead of just blindly displaying ancient Chinese elements,we should focus more on the bright future of modern China and demonstrate China's role in building a global community of Shared future.In terms of the role of the speaker,the actor network theory is combined to fully recognize the advantages of individuals in cross-cultural communication,which provides a new way for the interpretation of Chinese stories in the context of external publicity.
