Performance And Practice Of Double Bass Solo Works

The early form of double bass originated in Europe in the 16^th century.The solo works for double bass has been developed since the 18^th century,through its embryonic stage in the Classical period and its maturing stage in the Romantic period,eventually opens a new chapter in the development of solo instrument and playing style.The double bass solo works in China was referred to as transcription music in the historical stage,but many contemporary solo works have been written with distinctive ethnic characteristics.This paper contains three chapters:The first chapter introduces the history and the evolution of the solo works for double bass and the composition of the Chinese double bass solo works.The second chapter are the comparisons between playing techniques of double bass and cello,cover areas of technique including the right hand and bowing.The third chapter uses the repertoire as reference,states the playing and performance considerations for double bass solo works by analyzing the structures,creative features,playing styles,thumb techniques of three double bass solo works with different styles.
