The Development And Exploration Of Contemporary Ceramic Art In Dehua

In the late 1970 s and early 1980 s,the concept of "ceramic art" was introduced to China from Western countries.“Modern ceramic art” was developed by the continuous exploration of Chinese artists,and then,pottery man in ceramic-producing regions began to rethink the connotation of ceramic creation.In the late 1990 s,with the development of contemporary ceramic art,some ceramic-producing regions began to establish ceramic culture parks,ceramic houses or these kind of places that are compatible with the trend of contemporary ceramic art,and open academic activities to attract talents to communicate and make art works,to promote the development of contemporary Ceramic art and the construction of ceramic-producing areas.People who live in Dehua ceramic-producing region are relatively “post-knowing”,but in recent years,contemporary ceramic art began to develop.Some Dehua ceramists with experimental consciousness realized the estrangement between themselves and the outside world.They actively sought to break through the boundaries and planned events to attract foreign artists to stay in Dehua,thereby to make further connecting the art network with Dehua and the world.The Dehua ceramic-producing regions and Jingdezhen and Liling are known as China's three major porcelain capitals,Dehua porcelain has been praised as “Blanc de Chine” by Europeans since the Ming Dynasty.For a long time,Dehua has been famous for its high quality white porcelain and exquisite porcelain making skills.Its heritage has never been broken.The excellent inheritance is beneficial to Dehua ceramists and also make some of them fall into closed loop under the influence of traditional style,the intervention of contemporary ceramic art energy has given a new source of inspiration for Dehua ceramics.Compared with other ceramic-producing regions,contemporary ceramic art just has a short time in Dehua,and it is still in the exploratory stage.During the period,the dialogues of traditional ceramics and contemporary ceramics has evolving many wonderful results.In the first half parts of this thesis,the brief history of Dehua contemporary ceramic art is sorted out,which is a literature supplement for Dehua ceramic art.In the second half parts,we focus on the contemporary ceramic artist work,analyze and summarize those actual cases.In the end of this thesis,it is expected to provide some inspiration for the future development of Dehua's contemporary ceramic art.
