| “Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standard”(2011 edition)makes higher requirements to the professional quality of English teachers,which makes the teachers face more challenges.The professional development of English teachers is a long-term learning process.Pre-service education is not only an essential course,but also a long-term course.Perseverance in in-service learning is the constant source of motivation for teachers.Participating in training is one of the best ways for teachers to constantly update their educational concepts,learn new knowledge,and master new methods.Some problems have been found in the areas of improving teachers’ teaching skills and widening their range of knowledge.The development of economy of northeastern area of Chongqing is in a low level,which is far from the developed areas of Chongqing.With the unbalanced development of education,the training of English teaching in junior high school needs a proper promotion.Ninety-eight teachers from 10 schools had been investigated by during the research with the questionnaires.6 teachers from different schools had been interviewed.From the results,some deficiencies have been found: the shortage of teachers’ training,excess utilitarianism in the training,too many theoretical contents,low quality of training teams.With the analysis about the teachers’ demands of training and the purpose to improve the quality of the English teachers’ training,this study gives following suggestions: the authorities ought to supply the junior high school English teachers with more chances to participate in the professional training;the methods of the training should be diversified;the theory of life-long learning should have a vital position in the training;combines the theory with practice in the training;promote the expertise of the trainers and keep the consistency between the pre-service education and in-service education.In addition,the research offers a scheme for the junior high school English teachers’ training in northeastern area of Chongqing. |
