The fundamental way of curriculum implementation is classroom teaching. The teaching process should be a bridge between teachers and students, and effective interaction can promote the common development of teachers and students at the same time.Teaching should be a unified process of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning. The essence of unity here refers to the interaction between teachers and students. In the process of English teaching, the communication between teachers and students should be dynamic.Through the multifaceted interaction between teachers and students, teachers and students can achieve an efficient level of interaction.Good teacher-student interaction not only helps to achieve the effectiveness of teaching, but also promotes the all-round development of students’ ability. At the present stage of junior high school English teaching, some teachers already have the educational thought of teacher-student interaction, but there are still differences between experienced teachers and novice teachers in the understanding and specific performance of teacher-student interaction. This study compares the classroom teacher-student interaction between junior high school English novice teachers and experienced teachers, compares their differences in different aspects, further analyzes the characteristics of classroom teacher-student interaction of English teachers, and provides some teaching enlightenment for English teachers, especially novice English teachers.Based on Krashen’s input hypothesis,Long’s interactive hypothesis and Swain’s output hypothesis, this study aims to answer the following two research questions by using three research tools:(1)What are the similarities and differences of teacher-student interaction of the novice English teachers and the experienced English teachers in junior high school?(2)What are the problems with teacher-student interaction of the experienced teachers and the novice English teachers in junior high school? The research participants of classroom observation are three experienced teachers and three novice teachers from Changan NO.3 Junior High School in Xi’an.Five novice teachers and five experienced teachers take part in the teacher interview. The participants of the student’s interview are 10 students from novice teachers’ class and 10 students from experienced teachers’ class. The research subjects of the questionnaire are 163 students in three experienced teachers’ classes and 153 students in three novice teachers’ class. This study indicates: Firstly, the similarities are below.(1)The teacher-student interaction of experienced teachers and the novice teachers can help students’ English learning.(2)The two types of teachers are willing to give students hints in teacher-student interaction. The differences are as follows.(1)The experienced teachers used more teacher-student interaction than novice teachers.(2)The experienced teachers prefer to use T-S type to interact with students, while novice teachers like to use T-C type to interact with students.(3)Experienced teachers’ classroom behavior of teacher-student interaction are more flexible than novice teachers.(4)The experienced teachers pay attention to the cultivation of students’ English ability while the novice teachers focus on their teaching progress.(5)Experienced teachers will use diverse ways to guide students to answer questions and interact with students, while novice teachers are willing to answer their questions by themself.(6)Experienced teachers have a better understanding of the role of teacher-student interaction than novice teachers.Nevertheless, there are some problems of teachers’ teacher-student interaction:(1)The experienced teachers sometimes have a strict tone and a serious expression in class and it will affect students’ participation.(2)The novice teachers lacks the equality of teacher-student interaction.(3)The way of the novice teachers’ teacher-student interaction is single.Based on the summary of this research, the author puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Experienced teachers should interact with students with a soft tone and pleasant expression.(2)Novice teachers should construct student-centered educational concept.(3)Novice teachers should properly combine the verbal behavior and nonverbal behavior together.(4)Novice teachers should create a meaningful teacher-student interaction to students.(5)Novice English teachers should receive professional training. This study has the following limitations:(1)The samples are small. The participants only six English teachers in this study, including three experienced teachers and three novice teachers from Changan NO.3 Junior High School. They cannot stand for all the foreign language junior high school teachers.(2)The time of investigation is too short to collect more adequate data. The author gives some suggestions to future studies:(1)More research subjects should be involved in the future research.(2)More time should be involved.
