On The Relationship Between Politics And Confucianism In The Mid-Western Han Dynasty

The western Han dynasty was prosperous in the early period of the Han dynasty,but the ideology of huang Lao always influenced the politics of this dynasty,to take a recuperation of domestic and external use of the defensive strategy.These policies were not in line with the great efforts in ruling countries of the emperor WuDi.The emperor of the han dynasty was in need of a new kind of statecraft to replace Huang Lao’s thought urgently.Confucianism had not favoured by rulers in the early Han,but then,The positive part in Confucianism catered to the needs of the emperor,so Confucianism began to be seriously considered,after a batch of Confucian intellectuals such as Dong,Confucian thought was regarded as the guiding ideology of the Han dynasty rule.The emperor made Confucism was not adopted by the whole Confucian theory,but under the premise that the blend of the legalists formed the Confucianism method combined with statecraft,meanwhile,which caused the Confucian internal divisions.After emperor WuDi,the administration of Huo Guang supported the policy of WuDi and continued his thought of governing the country.This led to the vigorous opposition of the Confucian scholars,and the meeting of the salt iron conference was nominally a political capital to discuss the strategy of the Han family,but it actually became the political capital of Huo Guang fighhted against his opponents.After emperor XuanDi’s succession,Confucian theory was used to explain the legitimacy and authenticity of his succession.However,in the concept of national governance,Han Xuandi adopted the thought of combining Confucianism and Legalist.The change of the thought of ruling the country in the middle of the han embodied the complex relationship between the Han politics and Confucianism.After the change of political situation,between xuan,yuan period gradually turned to the Han dynasty,the Confucianism is in the political center stage.However,only the governing philosophy of Confucianism had not brought peace to the Western Han,everything made thisperiod fierce social contradictions.It could be seen that the social crisis in the late Western Han dynasty was not only plenty of crisis in the economic field,but also in the political and cultural field.
