China is a unified multi-ethnic country,at least since the Qin and Han Dynasties more than two thousand years ago,and there are still 56 ethnic groups. The Yi nationality is one of the most populous ethnic minorities in China. The data released by the Sixth National Population Census in 2010 is 8.71 million, accounting for 0.6538% of the total population.Yi people live mainly in Sichuan,Yunnan,Guizhou and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.Yunnan is about 5.4 million, accounting for 61.7% of the national Yi population;Sichuan is about 2.64 million, accounting for 27.1% of the national Yi population;Guizhou is about 840,000,accounting for 10.8% of the total population;and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has more than 10,000 Yi people.Yi people mainly gathered in 17 counties and cities of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan.According to the main data communique of the sixth national census of Liangshan Prefecture in 2010,the population of Yi nationality is 2.27 million.Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province is a densely populated area with relatively complete cultural preservation. So far,it has retained the traditional primitive religious cultures such as Suni and Bimo.Bimo culture, which is based on scriptures and rituals,is the core of Yi culture. The bemo rites generally include sacrifices, divination, disease removal, disaster treatment, disease prevention, oath of alliance, swear oath, and divine judgement.Different ritual uses different sacrifices, such as chicken, sheep or pig *.At the same time, sacrifices should be distinguished from different colors.Different colors of sacrificial offerings are suitable for different ceremonies. Therefore,Bimo ritual is an indispensable religious activity in Yi society. Its content is complex and its form is diverse. This paper takes the Ash family in Hejing Township,Butuo County,Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture,Sichuan as the research object, and studies its content and function by discussing one of the Bimo ritual activities-"Sesabi".The first chapter of this paper outlines the formation of Liangshan Yi society, including the geographical environment, migration history, economic and cultural structure of Liangshan Yi.The second chapter combs the status quo of Bimo ritual inheritance of Liangshan Yi people, mainly in two aspects: Bimo ritual and inheritance status.Chapter three studies the category of the Bimo ritual of Ash family by field investigation, and explores the function of the Bimo ritual. The fourth chapter studies the social efficacy of the ceremony by analyzing the bemo ceremony of the Yi people in Liangshan. To sum up,this paper studies the social function of Bimo ritual of Ash family, analyses the social effect of Bimo ritual of Liangshan Yi nationality, and shows that Bimo ritual of Yi nationality is an indispensable part of Yi society. How to better inherit and protect the Bimo ritual of the Yi people? We also hope that more experts and scholars at home and abroad will pay close attention to it and put forward effective plans so as to carry forward the traditional culture of the Chinese nation.
