Research On Huang Zuo And His Poems

Huang Zuo is a famous poet of Lingnan area in the middle of Ming Dynasty.There are 11 volumes of Huang Zuo’s poems in the Guangzhou collection of Taiquan Classics,and about 1158 poems.This dissertation not only makes a comprehensive and systematic study of Huang Zuo’s family,life and his acquaintance,but also discusses his thoughts,works and poetics.According to the actual situation of Huang Zuo’s poetry creation,his poems can be divided into 7 categories,including reflecting people’s livelihood and hardships,recalling antiquity,social intercourse,scenery and travel,the poems made up of lines from varied poets,dreams recording and inscriptions.What’s more,his poems have various themes and contents.For example,face up to the darkness of society and pay attention to people’s suffering,reveal the harm caused by the unjust war,place his sp irit on the solemn and fervent patriotism,the self-identity and self-confidence of Lingnan culture,and the pursuit of integrity and noble personality.Huang Zuo’s poetry has the characteristics of good narrative,rich allusions and reasoning on artistic skills,and the forceful,classic elegance and insipidity language.However,his poetry influenced many Lingnan students so that injected vitality into the long-silent Lingnan poetry circle.In addition,his poetry style not only promoted the development of Lingnan poetry circle after the mid-Ming dynasty,but also fostered many great poets.The later generations of poetry critics also pay attentions to Huang Zuo’s poems and he has a unique position and influence in the history of Lingnan literary.
