"Shenzhen" Publishes Map Research

The study of the history of domestic maps is in the ascendant.Although scholars have a lot of researchs and discussions on various maps,they have little foucus on published maps,news history and map history published in newspapers.And these maps are not only large in quantity,but also very valuable in research.The newspapers will be used as a map carrier to describe the history of modern China’s ups and downs,and the maps also reflects the ordinary people’s understanding and use of maps in modern times.Here,only the maps published in the "Shun Pao" are selected by author for preliminary analysis.The first chapter first sorts out the difference between the "Shun Pao map" and the maps published on the "Shun Pao".Secondly,the author divides it into two categories:military affairs and people’s livelihood,and also counts the essay map’s number and make it off different period in the "Shun Pao".Finally the author believes that the number of "Shun Pao" maps is closely related to the domestic military situation.The second chapter discusses the source,drawing staff and printing methods of the essay maps published in the "Shun Pao".First of all,some maps are drawn by the itself staff in "Shun Pao",and some of them are from other people or institutions.The second people can be divided into two categories,one is the individual signature,and the other is the group(institution)signature.Secondly,the identity of the drawing person is mostly unknown,and only a few can be checked.Among the people who can be checked,there are drafters from the "Shun Pao" data room,and there are also independent individuals or groups with diverse identities,and they are worth studying.Finally,the maps published in the "Shun Pao" also have their characteristics,the general accuracy not only is not high,the level is uneven,but also has obvious personal characteristics and the map symbol system is not perfect.The third chapter discusses the advertisement maps published in the "Shun Pao ".Advertising maps are special maps designed by merchants for a certain marketing purpose.Such maps are not strictly maps and they often have deliberate exaggeration or potential guidance.This selective the way of display also reveals that the map is not entirely a reflection of the objective world.The fourth chapter analyzes the related issues of the map copyright at the time of the map through the plagiarism case recorded in the "Shun Pao".On the one hand,it shows that the cases of map infringement in the Republic of China were common at that time,and the authors of the maps also had a strong awareness of copyright.On the other hand,they also revealed the complexity of the map as a special knowledge in the process of infringement judgment and the difficulty of defending rights.
