The idea of good and evil retribution is not only a universal social psychology, but also deeply affects literary creation. In the pre-Qin period, there was a retribution story in the history of literature. In the Six Dynasties, with the introduction of Buddhism and karma, there were retribution fictions written exclusively for Buddhism. The subject-matter of the retribution in the novels of the Tang Dynasty inherits the tradition of karma fictions of the Six Dynasties.Although there are changes, most of the stories that promote Buddhist thought are still present. In the Song Dynasty, the subject matter of retribution has improved in content and thought compared with the previous generation, more expressing secular life, conveying public consciousness, and having a greater impact on the retribution novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Therefore, the retribution theme in the classical Chinese novels in Song Dynasty is a part of the novel development chain that cannot be ignored. The first chapter of the thesis combs the traditional retribution concept, the Taoist "Chengfu Doctrine" and the Indian Buddhist karma. And combing the Buddhist karma and the traditional Chinese retribution concept to form the Chinese Buddhist karma.Through the combing of the concept of retribution,it can be clarified that the retribution concept that affects the thinking of the Song people is the fusion of the three retribution concepts. The second chapter discusses the reasons why the retribution theme prevailed in the Song Dynasty. The retribution theme of the classical Chinese novels in the Song Dynasty has a new development on the basis of the story type before inheritance. The need for the reconstruction of social ethics in the Song Dynasty influenced the creators of novels to pay attention to the function of persuasion and punishment of novels, thus affecting the large number of creations of retribution. The expansion of the creative subject has led to a large increase in retribution stories. The psychology and aesthetic tendency of the people under the influence of the society in the Song Dynasty further promoted the creation of retribution. The prevalence and stereotype of retribution are closely related to the transformation of social culture in the Song Dynasty. The third chapter explores the Song people's thoughts in the Song Dynasty's retribution theme through the analysis of the retribution story, from the five aspects of filial piety, couples, justice and benifits, official appearance and religious persuasion, and the social phenomenon embodied in the Song people's thoughts. From the content of the thought,we found the change and development of the theme of retribution. The fourth chapter analyzes the characteristics of the retribution theme of the classical Chinese classical novels in the narrative art.Classical Chinese Novels in the Song Dynasty has the narrative features of the contradiction between fiction and record, the use of contrast, and the choice of multiple narrative perspectives. These narrative features jointly reflect the tendency of the narrative ethics of the retribution of classical Chinese novels in the Song Dynasty.
