| Idol Cultivation mode is a new form of fan subculture in recent years.Under this mode,a significant change comes to the standard star-fan relationship;However,in the Chinese Idol Cultivation competition program Produce 101,competitor Wang Ju(Naomi Wang)'s fans use their different cultural practices and interaction ways make Wang Ju win many votes and be well-known among China,creating a unique Wang Ju Phenomenon.To analyze the causes and characteristics of Ju fans' interactions,I employ Interactive Ritual Chain theory as my research base.Besides,I did a network ethnographic research in Ju's fanbase for half a year,along with participatory observation and online interview.By comparing the interaction performance between Ju's fanbase's and other typical cultivating idols',I figure out the characteristics of Ju's fans who in fanbase.And find Ju fans are mainly composed of college students who pursue independence and believe in aesthetic pluralism.They are not limited to minority aesthetics.Also,most of Ju's fans are observers on the edge of the fan circle,therefore many of them are not familiar with its rules.Besides,Ju's fanbase has its own social norms,but its organization is relatively loose compared with other fanbases.In the second chapter,I try to explains the components of unity in Ju's fanbase.It is believed that Ju fans have their common concern for the symbols of wang Ju.They gather in the cyberspace and identify their members by rejecting outsiders.In the interaction,Ju fans acquire different degrees of emotional energy,which strengthening their symbolic identity.In the third chapter,I explore the causes of Ju's fanbase interaction variation,and think the interaction variation essentially contributes to a rational flow of the interactive ritual market.Firstly,emotional energy is the driving force of the interaction in Ju's fanbase.Secondly,symbols carry emotional energy.Fans'symbolic reserve of community's information will affect the level of emotional energy.Thirdly,different levels of emotional energies make a ritual stratification.Fans' active degree and capital input influence their status in fanbase.Ju's fans' unique interaction actually is also a performance of idol cultivation mode.Their interaction reflects their recognition to unique symbol and also a rebellion against the rules.However,there still lies a deeply contradiction in Ju fans'attitude and behavior.Ultimately it is still a process that fans gather together to build an imaginary community,just as what other cultivating idols' fans do. |
